I have been doing business with Georg Breuer since 2005, when, on my first of (so far) six visits to Germany. I've developed a relationship with them, and present partner, Theresa Breuer, a mere 32 years old in 2016, who commands a great capacity to communicate in English, and has a wonderful ability to provide first class customer service. Along with her uncle, Henrich Breuer, they manage the estate with tradition and quality at the forefront of their thinking. I just wrote her last night to inquire about a purchase of wines, to be delivered at a friend's address in Germany, and her answer was complete and prompt. I get very good value for world class wines, bought directly from the producer. While my own family came from the Saar River region, I've become a more frequent consumer of wines from the Rheingau largely because of the service I get, and high quality I enjoy, from Georg Breuer's people. Georg Breuer holds some of the very best vineyard property along the Rhine from Assmanshausen in the west, to Rauenthal in the east; all above the north bank of the river. Their headquarters are in Rüdesheim am Rhein, which was first documented in known history already in 1047! In an area once settled by the Kelts, Rüdesheim am Rhein is in part of a world class winemaking country which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can also experience the Rhein in Flammen, a famous fireworks display held on the first Saturday in July, and the Weinfest wine festival is held annually on the third weekend in August. They also hold an event called the "Tage des Federweißen," another wine festival, this one held in late October and early November. Georg Breuer's wine sites include Rüdesheim: Berg Roseneck, Berg Rottland, Berg Schlossberg; Rauenthal: Nonnenberg. These wines stand out among their fellow vineyards in Germany for their complexity and enormous aging potential. Since 1990 they have been producing a wine called "Terra Montosa," (steep land) from the second best sites on their top single vineyards. 100% Riesling, the wine is of the dry style, loaded with Riesling flavors, and when available, is bottled in 375, 750, and 1500 mL bottles. There is also Village Riesling from estates at Rüdesheim and Rauenthal, and a series of wines labelled "GB," to wit: Sauvage and Charm, both Rieslings in the half-dry and dry styles, respectively; GB Gris from Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) and Rouge from Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir); and a GB Rosé also produced from Spätburgunder. They also produce a special ultra-premium sweet wine along lines similar to Sauternes called "Elysium," which is only produced in years which allow for its extremely high quality, with grapes rich in natural sugar due to edelfaule, the German name for a desirable fungus known as botrytis cinerea, which the French call le Pourritur Noble. Both French and German names mean "noble rot." As of this writing, sweet dessert wines offered are Rheingau Auslese, Berg Rottland Auslese Goldkapsel, Berg Schlossberg Auslese Goldkapsel, Berg Schlossberg Beerenauslese, Berg Roseneck Trockenbeerenauslese, and Elysium Beerenauslese. There are fruitier Rheingau Burgundy-type wines which find their more complex equivalent in the barrel aged Pinot Noir "Spätburgunder" and "Spätburgunder B" (selection of the best barrels from steep terraces) which reflect the variety's intensity and strength. They produce "Historical Wines" from lesser known grapes with a history of being grown in the region, currently these are Orlèans and Heunisch. Sparkling wines of great quality also are made, Rosé Brut, Riesling Brut, and Georg Breuer Brut. Finally, they have a private cellar of rare vintage wines, available for sale, which I have visited and made a few purchases from. It was a wonderful experience! They once produced some spirits from Riesling grapes, but I do not know if those are still in production.

Maybe the winery that I now the best in Rheingau and my preferred winery for dry wine. I say that because I tast the dry wine when the wine was young and after 15 years (Nonnenberg) :) Both amazing! Very nice place to discover all the wine of the winery! In "village" my preferred is Loch and Rauenthal :) All the single vineyard are amazing !!!!! Cheers! Excellent quality of wine. I was impressed with the quality of wine produced in the terroir and the winemaker’s intention to let the quality of the wine shine through. The grand cru level was amazing but the entry level wine is great as it is already. The team were so gracious in sharing information during the tastings and passionate about their wines. Thanks to Marlen for a wonderful tasting

I happened by this hidden gem while visiting Rudesheim. As soon as i walked in the door, i was greeted by an adorable older puppy. This place won my heart based off that alone. All of the wines I tasted we amazing as well. I wanted to buy a case of each! The lady who helped me was great, I have a hard time understanding anyone who has an accent and she didn't seemed annoy by how many times she had to repeat herself. Alas I walked away with 7 bottles and they kindly delivered them to my hotel since I was on foot. I did not stop by the winery itself but the store the...

Lovely cellar informational experience about the regional wines produced here. The lower tasting room is dimly lit and cozy with the low vaulted ceilings. Stone archways on the lower level. A variety of wines are made here and available for tasting. Dry and sweet white wines. Apple juice was available for those attending tastings who do not partake. An enjoyable experience describing characteristics and terroir of wines from various locations...
