Ratsstube — Restaurant in Rüdesheim am Rhein

Stopped in here to grab some potato dumplings and a beer with my wife and dad. The atmosphere is nice. The beer is beer. The dumplings were sub par. The waiter, I wish I could remember his name, is rude and condescending. My wife, who is Taiwanese but speaks perfect English, ordered a Radler. It is one of her favorite summertime drinks since having it for the first time in Munich a year or so ago. The waiter responded to her order, but none of us could hear what he said. So, my wife said... sorry, what did you say? He then condescended her speaking each syllable one at a time loudly, slowly, and condescendingly. Good for him that he speaks English as a second language, but English is also my wife's second language. She has a much better handle on the language than he, and she in no way deserved to be spoken to in that manner. He was the only waiter we didn't tip in our 2 plus weeks in Europe this past July. I was pleasantly surprised to snag a lovely table by the window at Ratsstube without a reservation, especially since the restaurant was buzzing with activity. While the service was friendly, it wasn't particularly attentive; I had to wait quite a while to flag down a server for my order. As I was looking for a light early dinner, I opted for the vegan burger. It featured a delicious vegan beef topped with a flavorful stake sauce. The patty and sauce were a fantastic combination, but unfortunately, the bun was a bit dry, which detracted from the overall experience. A few more veggies, like some fresh lettuce and tomato, would have also made the burger more substantial. Despite these minor issues, I was satisfied with my meal. The restaurant has a wonderfully cozy atmosphere with warm lighting. I especially appreciated the availability of blankets; it was a chilly evening, and snuggling up with one definitely enhanced the cozy vibes. Before you read my review, you should know that I usually don't leave review. Staffs who include guy who wear eyeglass and other women have several problem for serving. They don't understand 'english' and humiliated me while they took wrong order. They served wrong menu and insisted they didn't do any mistake.I tried to understand them, but the terrific thing was the payment.
