Buckle up; this will be a fundamental review and well-justified. Food/Drink: The food is perfect. Not good, not excellent, Perfect. I ordered the Calamari as an app. It's not on the menu this way, but just let them know. First, the soup and bread arrived. Delicious and well-seasoned soup that tasted of chicken noodles but with intent. The bread was grilled well and came with a tasty red sauce. This is to get you started. Our wine showed up next; I had the dry red. Tasted like a malbec or pinot noir but was most likely a local red blend. THE SALAD ARRIVES. I am not a huge fan of sour kraut or potato salad, but this had both, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber with a balsamic dressing. Mix it all up, and you will be surprised at how well it works together. For the main course, I'm going to describe two different dishes because I went back-to-back nights. Pork: Young suckling pig slow roasted on a wood fire rotisserie. This was nostalgic and memorable. Tender, juicy, and smoky, and it came with crispy skin. I believe it's only available on Saturdays. Lamb Chops: I was raised working in Brazillian restaurants, so I am highly critical about the cookery and seasoning of meats, especially gamey meats like lamb. THIS WAS NUTS. Perfectly cooked at medium rare, well seasoned with balanced salt. I dropped the fork and went hands-on, sucking on the bones shortly after. Even the fries were notably delicious and not the usual filler side. Atmosphere: The decor and ambiance make you feel like you are celebrating. Upbeat Greek music, people toasting, the owner dishing out pro-bono shots of Ouzo and asking you, "where are the girls ."If I was in Santorini on vacation, I would be delighted with a night out at Metaxa. Clean, comfortable, fun, and exciting. Price: Extremely fair, given the food, service, and ambiance. TIPs: Make reservations for weekends or groups over 4 on any day Get the Lamp chops/Roasted pork Calamari Make plans to go drinking after because you will leave in a celebratory mood and ready for a cold...
Read moreI was really looking forward to dining at Metaxa Greek Restaurant, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The service was so slow that we waited for like 30 minutes just to get a menu, and it was even longer for someone to take our order. To make things worse, the treatment we received was very unwelcoming. The staff seemed uninterested and inattentive, as if we were bothering them by being there. It felt like they prioritized certain tables over others, and we were definitely not one of them. The food itself was okay, but nothing special definitely, the steak that I ordered was very dry and not worth the long wait and poor service. With so many great Greek restaurants out there, I wouldn’t waste my time here again. Metaxa really needs to work on customer service, especially the bald waiter, he didn't even look at us when he delivered our order. Instead, he go straight to our next table and ask if that's their order and when they refuse, he went to different table next to them until he ask who's order is that (what kind of customer service is that?) the staff didn’t seem particularly welcoming or attentive, it making us feel like an afterthought rather than valued...
Read moreI don’t have ENOUGH good things to say. This was my favorite dining experience I’ve had in Europe in the entire year we’ve lived here. The restaurant itself is beautiful, very homey/romantic atmosphere, especially in the evening. My family and I arrived around 1730 on a Sunday and one by one, the tables started filling up. There were obviously some repeat customers that came in because they seemed so familiar with the place, the staff, and what they wanted to eat; which was lovely to see. EVERYTHING my husband and I ate was delicious. From the appetizers to dessert, we were completely amazed. The lamb chops, in particular, were so tender/juicy without that strong gamey taste that other places usually have. Quick, attentive service and a huge menu selection as well. The very friendly owner gave us free honey puffs after we asked for the bill. We devoured them all within seconds then he came by with a bigger platter and said “ehhh you have some more” 😂 then we ate those too. We were so happy with the meal and such a warm, welcoming experience that I just had to give him a hug on the way out 😄. We can’t wait...
