Bambusgarten — Restaurant in Regensburg

If you are non-Thai who never tastes Thai food before. you might think the foods are ok but as I am Thai I have to be frankly and say “RIP Thai food here” This is absolutely not authentic Thai and not even close to be. I mean the owner is Vietnamese and food was cooked by Vietnamese nothing related to Thai but all menu’s are Thai foods that made me surprise. I’ve eaten some Thai food cooked by Vietnamese before and accepted that because that didn’t mention like they are Thai restaurants but Asian or something but here I thought it was real Thai since they said Thai restaurant. I ordered Tom yam gung-this was the worse Tom Yam Gung ever, then I had Yam wun sen- this one they don’t even cooked glass noodles they just soaked them in the water and serve you like that with salad sauce (of cause not how its taste) but for Porpia and Kai satay this one quite ok. I think originally Porpia is from Vietnam (they make it good) We also ordered crispy duck with Thai sauce but again we don’t cook sauce this way. (But duck was good) this menu can be the best taste we had(again if you are non Thai) With Rice they can’t even cook it properly or maybe that how they cook it. (I’m not sure) I said all this just because I feel sad that someone ruined our Thai food like this. To who you are not Thai please remember this shop is not Thai and not cook by Thai before you go there you must aware of it. I’m not hate Vietnamese or their restaurant I just say facts. I think Vietnamese doesn’t like it neither if any races cook their authentic Vietnamese food wrong way and claim this is Vietnamese food.

Anyway, my husband finished all food but left glass noodles. He said they were fine and not that bad even not close to original Thai food.

We walked in 10 min after they opened for dinner. It was so smokey in there and smelled strongly of grease and food (food smell was not a good smell) like they never aired the place out. The waitress came and seemed to be annoyed that she had to be at work and was rude. I asked her nicely to crack the window because it really was hard to breathe in there because of the strong smell. Nevertheless we thought we would give it a try because of all the good reviews. Took about 35 min to get the food even though there was only a few people in the restaurant. It was definitely not thai food. It was so so salty, every dish tasted like just a ton of salt and soy sauce. No flavor at all. The rice was completely mushy and overcooked. I only ate the egg roll and a spoon full of my food and left about 90% of my dish. We paid 42 Euro for egg rolls, 2 main dishes and 2 small water. Way too expensive for food that tastes like just salt and soy sauce even though it's not a soy sauce dish. I love salt but this was crazy salty. Our clothes and hair stank so badly of rancid grease and food. We couldn't go anywhere else afterwards because of how badly we smelled. So we had to go home to shower and wash our hair and put our clothes in the washer. We will definitely never go back there. Not to mention that the decor and style of the restaurant looks old and dingy and like it used to be 25 years ago. We went because of the good reviews but it's not good at all. Not even okay.
