Such a disappointing experience here. We received a lovely welcome from the waiter but apart from that and being given two menus we received no further service. We were sitting outside and the seating area was not busy. The first waiter came out and walked around a few times but never looked in our direction nor, in spite of only being two tables over, came over to our table. We made eye contact with two other waiting staff and they ignored us too. The first waiter came out and had a conversation for a few minutes with the waitress. They were laughing and obviously it was a casual not work related conversation. They were only a table over from us & then they both went inside - again ignoring us. The waitress came out and proceeded to attend to two tables that arrived after us & walked right past us. Even though my husband tried to engage her, she walked past without acknowledging us. After having been seated for about 25 minutes, and during that time trying to attract the attention of staff, we decided to leave. As I said - such a disappointing experience. Having visited many many cities & towns across Germany since 2003 this is certainly not reflective of our experience of German hospitality.
I have tried to find a way to respond to the reply from the owner but can't do so hence putting it here after my original review.
Yes, my review was about Gasthaus zum Stockhammer. I wrote the review at around 10am on Sunday morning (17 October 2021).
We arrived at your restaurant before 9pm on Saturday night (16 October 2021) and checked that food was still being served before sitting down. We were given two menus and as I said in my review, not one member of staff came back to our table to take our order - neither food nor drink. Tables that had arrived after us were attended to and I watched as the waitress gave blankets to the people at one of them and drinks were brought to these tables too. We genuinely felt that for some reason we were being deliberately ignored. We did manage to find a restaurant where we received the type of service and hospitality that we had expected at your restaurant. We were disappointed though that we didn't get to experience...
Read moreBeen there on a Wednesday at noon, the restaurant was quite full but I still received good and fast service. I had the “halbe Schweinshaxe” which was quite tender and had a nice crispy skin. The sauce, coleslaw and Knödel that come with it complement it well. The portion size is decent for the price. The atmosphere is cozy/ traditional and pretty laid back. Being situated in the pedestrian zone adds to...
Read moreThe food was decent – breaded pork schnitzel with fries, and a kids’ menu of spaetzle with sauce. Everything was fine and as expected, but nothing that would really stand out for a top score. Service was a little on the slow side, and the fan on the terrace was buzzing the whole time, creating quite a bit of background noise. On the plus side, the Radler...
