I had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant, one that I feel compelled to share. After ordering two pasta Bolognese dishes and two bottles of water, the total should have been €31.40. I planned to leave a small tip, rounding the amount up to €33 for the service. However, when I asked for the bill, the waitress informed me the total was €34.40. Wanting to be polite, I rounded up to €35, unaware that a €3 tip had already been added without my consent.
What made this situation even more frustrating was that the waitress never offered me the bill or receipt. It was only after I requested the receipt that I discovered the additional charge. This lack of transparency feels unacceptable, especially when it comes to something as straightforward as billing.
Adding to my frustration, I was dining with my 81-year-old grandmother, who traveled all the way from China to visit. It’s disheartening that she had to experience such poor service and unfair treatment. The entire experience left me wondering if we were treated differently because we didn’t look like locals. Whether this was a case of racial discrimination or just poor service, I cannot recommend this restaurant and urge others to be cautious if they choose...
Read moreFor Mercedes-Benz being such a premium product and the Mercedes Museum being such a wonderful experience, Bertha’s is just straight up terrible. Rude service staff. Have to ask for menus (this should be given to you upon being seated). Frankly gross food - DO NOT ORDER THE SWABIAN SPECIALTIES! Family ordered “German” food and got some barely edible mush, sausages, lentils, etc. I ordered a pizza and while edible, I’ve had better frozen Margherita pizzas from the grocery store. Chicken nuggets looked awful. Only thing edible were the fries. This place is a TERRIBLE representation of Mercedes and should immediately be shut down. Especially after the disgusting food made my father sick. To think that the waiter had the balls to try and ask for a 10% service tip - DO NOT PAY THIS BALONEY TIP! Truly awful. I’ll be writing Mercedes corporate and the museum about how awful this place is. Bertha Benz is rolling over...
Read moreBertha's is in the basement of the great Mercedes-Benz Museum. The Menu is short and clear with some German and Swabian classics. The atmosphere is cold and self-service so it feels like a more stylish canteen but with prices of a restaurant. I prefer the restaurant option on the other side of the street. However the food was good so you don't make a wrong choice after your museum's visit.
Don't miss the real Swabian classic "Linsen mit Spätzle und Saitenwürstle" (Lentils with egg noodles and sausage). It is a great and really traditional dish, even if the combination sounds...
