I have been to this place several times...I know the owner and employees. For the third time I have been disappointed by the service so I will write this review for anyone that is considering eating here. The food is amazing...maybe second best after Makamba in downtown Stuttgart. But the service in this restaurant is more designed to cater to non-Ethiopians/Eritreans that know very little about the culture. I am Ethiopian and I know that when you order 2 or more different dishes, you should get extra injera (flat bread) to eat the dishes with. This place brings you very little injera initially, does not come to check if you need more until you ask for them and when they bring more they still do not bring enough. It is almost like they expect ALL customers to eat the dishes like soup. I went to this place 2 weeks ago and ordered 3 meals for me and my fiance... after eating only half of our food, we asked to Take-Away the rest of the food. We got home to find out that they only gave us 2 small pieces of injera to eat with and to make it worse... since our food to Take Away was too much for one container, the server chose to only use 1 container and throw away the remaining food instead of using 2 containers. I do not recommend them for anyone that is familiar with habesha culture and someone that knows how traditional Ethiopian meals are generous, celebratory and considerate....all this restaurant cares about is saving money from being greedy with...
Read moreGreat and authentic African food ! You’ll enjoy and learn how to eat and appreciate the food like an African. The service is friendly and excellent. We re-ordered injera(bread) as we still had dips remaining. After just a few seconds, we had another tray of bread free of charge. The portion’s size is generous and fair priced. The coffee was excellent and was served with popcorn and authentic incense. Little minus is the restaurant’s location, but you can sit nicely at the river and the food and experience makes up for...
Read moreI can never get tired of ordering their Vegetarischer Probierteller. The lentils are spicy and flavorful, and most likely the only place in town that serves kale (Grünkohl) all year around. The coffee is deliciously strong and authentically brewed and served with popcorn, but available only in the evening. I recommend this place for lunch, the portions are the same as dinner but half in price. Warm and hospitable service, and a good atmosphere for...
