If you ever wondered what it would feel like to waste your time, your money, and your taste buds in one fell swoop, let me introduce you to Der Daddy—a burger joint with a name so cringe-inducing it makes you regret learning to read. Seriously, Der Daddy? That’s not a restaurant name, it’s a red flag wrapped in faux-edgy branding.
The disaster began with an hour-long wait in line, not due to popularity, but because the operational dysfunction here makes the U.S. Congress look like a Swiss watch. There were multiple open tables just sitting there for over 20 minutes—untouched, unbothered, unseated—while a line of hungry, irritated people piled up like a traffic jam in hell. Oh, and one table sat empty for an hour and a half, reserved for what looked suspiciously like the owner's friends. The nepotism? Gag-worthy. The vibes? Rotten.
Once we were finally seated, the mess only deepened. They managed to screw up my order—bacon, the one ingredient I specifically looked forward to, just forgotten. And the food? Hoo boy. If blandness were a crime, Der Daddy would be doing life without parole. The bun was dry, the burger patty forgettable, and the so-called “ranch” dressing was basically mayo playing dress-up. An embarrassment to both ranch and dressing.
The owner apparently claims inspiration from the U.S.—but clearly never stepped foot inside a half-decent American burger joint. This wasn’t Americana, it was just sad. A glorified fast food truck with delusions of relevance.
Final verdict: Der Daddy is a bad joke with worse food. Zero stars, if the rating system allowed it. Do yourself a favor—stay home and microwave some leftovers. You’ll have a better meal, and a...
Read moreWe first went to the "Der Daddy" after an advertisement on Instagram and after reading the latest reviews on Google where many people write that you have to wait around 30-45 minutes to eat the best burger in Trier, this made us curious and we decided to try it this Saturday. After waiting in line for two hours from 12:30 to 2:30, we finally got inside to sit at the bar because there were only seats there (it didn't bother us) but the 30-45 minutes of waiting were until we received our food. And I can say that the food was perfect, but still, the burgers are super good. We will definitely not repeat this experience. It was an experience, we accepted the wait (some gave up waiting in line), and we still waited a long time. If someone had forced us, we certainly wouldn't have stayed. As I said, it was an experience out of pure curiosity, and we took it on, but we won't repeat it again. Our advice to the owner should do something about this 1. better organization, more tables because they are losing customers. And I didn't get the burger of the month, although I was there in line from 12:30, I didn't expect it. Our mistake maybe because we went on Saturday. They are a bit overwhelmed by the situation by the flow of people. What can I say, the food is very good, as is their...
Read more6 months ago, I have tried to put down in words the unforgettable explosion of flavors I have had @derdaddy_beef.buns.burgers, thinking I could never eat a Burger better than the one I have eaten prior. Little did I know, they would prove me wrong. Yesterday me and my mother ate the „Phat Indian“ and were both flabbergasted as we simultaneously took our first bite. The Beef was juicy and perfectly cooked, the buns were fluffy as a pillow made out of clouds. The different sauces harmonized impeccably with each other and was the essential key to merge everything together. The spicy tang from the Curry Mayo, the fresh Raita that acts as a bracing coolant and the surprising dash of sweetness coming through, thanks to the Mango pickles. The discrete textures from the crusty Papadamcrunch to the fluffy buns. Yet again, you left me speechless. I am out of words. I have nothing left to say, except thanks, thanks for letting us be part of this experience.
PS. Unfortunately I couldn’t write this review with my actual account. I had to login with an other google account so I could post this. If you would like to read my first review, you’ll find it under...
