Leanis Cafe — Restaurant in Trier

Summary: Best breakfast/cafe in Trier! This place is my family's go-to spot when we are in Trier. My kids love their pancakes with agave, eggs and bacon. My wife loves their Matcha Latte. I am somewhat a foodie and haven't found a single thing on the menu that I have not loved :)

Context: My family and I have been on an extended trip in Trier for multiple months. Upon initially living in the city, we had a hard time finding places that were consistently open and had high quality food and drinks, especially in the morning and afternoon. Leanis Cafe was an answered prayer! We have essentially eaten there everyday and it has become our favorite place in Trier.

The owners of the cafe are phenomenal. They are very hands on with the operation and make the atmosphere very warm, inviting, and make your experience personalized.

Because of their example, the entire staff are extremely friendly, professional, detail oriented with any dietary restrictions (my wife has celiac), and go above and beyond with any specific needs, which was clutch with our two little kids! Special shout out and thanks to Didi, Paula, Mariza, Vica, Alyssa, Ayham, and the entire front staff! Y'all made our experience so memorable and special. They eventually memorized our orders and had stuff ready for us quickly when we came to eat.

Bottom line, Leanis is obviously a local favorite and was our favorite place for a multitude of reasons. From the food, to the staff, to the owners, everything about Leanis Cafe was an easy 5 star experience. Thank you Vlora and team Leanis, you blessed our...

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience here today. I don't like leaving negative reviews but this was next level. We arrived at 11:30 and got our food almost 2 hours later, at 13:15. We ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and a brioche bun with scrambled eggs with avocado and salmon, not very complicated dishes. At first we had a lot of understanding for the waiters, since the place was full and looked understaffed (which in any case is not our problem). However, after we asked about our food more than one hour after ordering, they just said they would look into it without apologising. We received no update so asked again, and only then (after 13) they told us that they just BEGAN to prepare the food. After 10 minutes with no food and no news we were ready to leave, but when we went to the counter we saw our order there. However, it stayed there for 5 full minutes before arriving at our table. Again, no apologies at all. My brioche bun arrived cold and without salmon. I asked about the salmon and they said it had finished in the meantime (when I ordered they said it was possible to add it on top).

Again, no apologies about the delay and we had to pay full price for everything. We understand sometimes the service can be slow, but what we can't accept is how we were treated - I would expect at minimum some sincere apologies, but also a discount on the drinks or the food, which arrived very late, not complete and cold.

My wife and I came there for a breakfast. They took 20 minutes to take our order. It was scrambled eggs with bacon and an egg and salmon's sandwich.

They took another 2 hours to deliver them, only after we asked for it several times. Mistakes can happen, but they never apologized for or even acknowledge this delay.

We ordered more to drink while we were waiting. (Tea of my wife was forgotten again) which they also charged. I would not have ordered additional drinks if they were not taking so much time to deliver our food, so this seems unfair to me.

Price was of 65 euro for 2 people, for quite average food: My wife's sandwich arrived cold, and with no salmon on it. She asked for it when we ordered 2 hours before, and it was fine, but there was no more salmon after, when we were served.

It seemed like they were understaffed. I did not complain directly to the waiters, since to me this is bad management instead.
