An Indian restaurant with flavours of both India and Germany merging in harmony - this place is highly recommended by locals when you're in the mood for something Indian while in Ulm. The interiors are decorated with ornate designs giving a traditional Indian feel while soft Indian Bollywood music plays in the background. Service was a little slow and it's recommended to get prior reservations. We had the mango lassi, vegetable samosa and vegetable pakora for starters and they were delicious. The lassi was the star - it was perfectly sweet and the quantity was sufficient enough to fill you up. For main course we tried the chicken vindaloo, vegetable curry, roti and pulao. All of the dishes were good, although quite less spicy for an Indian palate. Overall, quality of food and atmosphere is quite decent and worth a visit.

The best and only one Indian 'All you can eat' buffet in Ulm. It is open at noon and offers a good choice between two or three different curries, Dal and/or Pakora. They always have fresh Naan bread, some fresh veggies and chicken- or lentils- soup. This is also a good stop for vegans. The food is delicious and not oversalted as it's common in many Chinese buffets. The price is either 8 euro during working week or 9 euro on weekends.

It's a good place to visit if you like Indian food. The rice specially very got, not too dry, good taste. Spicy food is not that spicy so it's possible to try with out being worry about this. In the case you like chicken meat it could be kind of little dry. Otherwise veggies recipes okay. Portions are not extremely big so that is a positive note. Friendly personal. Very clean toilets.

We visited this place for the very first time and the impression its owner & staff left on us is unforgettable. It was during lunch that we went to this restaurant & asked for menu card. We started looking to order our food. Within 30 seconds of getting menu, the staff member visited us 3 times, continuously asked for order and he was more focused on its buffet. First of all we were reluctant but he insisted. We asked for buffet menu and he told us there is salad, bread, lentils and mix veggie. Somehow we chose to go for buffet as he was keen to get the orders on buffet. We missed the trick here. We took the plate and took lentils, rice and salad. As soon as we started taking bread, it was super cold, and hard to chew as if it is cold pressed. Here it starts the drama - I asked the owner if he can provide us hot bread, he simply made the stmt - "If you need hot bread, you can order additionally. No hot bread on buffet even if its stone harded." Then why did he insisted so much on buffet? We were not asking free food. We were paying for his buffet menu. WE did not like his way of talking. As we already had some food in our plates (we did not want to continue but), we continued our spirit of not wasting the food. As it was buffet, I took lentil another time... In this scenario, staff started gossiping that they already took the food 2-3 times. Customer does not exptect such stmts from restaurant owner & staff. They were talking in Punjabi (Indian language) and somehow we understood what he was saying. Now, you can guess the type of mindset they are having.

We were not having free food. Of course, we were paying for it.

Quality of mix veg - Stale veggies used Quality of lentil - OK (but below than other restaurants) Breads - Thick and hard like anything. Attitude & customer handling - Less than 0

Mindset of this restaurant - Money Money Money

Wont recommend...

I was very excited to finally go to this restaurant. I’ve heard wonderful things about the food and those things were true. What was failed to be mentioned was the terrible service.

We had ordered appetizers and so they waited to start the entrées. They must’ve forgotten about us because we did not get our entrées until over 40 minutes later. We mentioned it twice to them and they never gave an apology, just excuses. They did not even communicate with us upon realizing we hadn’t gotten our order, that they had made the mistake. Even when they brought us the plates for the family style entrées.

We finally had to threaten that we were going to cancel the order and leave before they finally brought out the food after my boyfriend had said you can at least offer us a glass of wine or something. Again, no apologies came from any of them. They did not bring us a bill but just told us a price. overall it was an experience I haven’t had in a restaurant before and unfortunately, we will not be returning because of this. @meganomics101

Here is my very German boyfriend’s review :) Himalaya (Ulm, Indian) Title: Stay away place in Ulm

Food: good ** Ambient: ok ** Service: bad * Price value: bad *

Rating info: 0=bad, *= very good

We came here once, and will stay away. Reason was multiple nogos in service, like letting you wait 1/2 for your meal, no communication, no taking of responsibility for faults, of 3...

Had been to this place recently and was really disappointed at the food and frankly the service as well. The restaurant is busy and the orders were slow. We finally got our food, much to our disappointment the portions were extremely smaller than that are served in Indian restaurants in Germany. We ordered a simple Paneer masala, and we got that with no more than 4 small pieces of paneer, the appetizers that we ordered were also skinny versions of the same dish served at other indian restaurants in Germany. I found some really great indian restaurants in Germany outside India, but this is clearly very disappointing. The service is not great either, they failed to bring the food ordered together which caused some confusion. We were planning on having a family dinner there but we quickly abandoned that idea and got out of there as fast...
