This has to be the most awe-inspiring Church I have ever been to. I am not saying that as a religious person, just an average guy who called in to look at the Church while visiting a friend. When I first walked into the building there was a feeling of something I just wrote off as being in a church. I think that may make sense to you- if you have visited some of the old churches in England. (I say England because I'm local to it). After a while I was convinced that the atmosphere was maybe due to the amount of people who spent their whole life helping to build the place: and the dedication it must have taken with all the detailed hand-craftsmanship. Inside the building you have to take a look at the carved pews where the choir must sit. All the faces intertwined and staring at you. It is pretty spooky-weird if you just stare them in the face without any interruption from anyone. I will not go on to much in case I bore you. However, the journey starts for real when you take the stairs up toward the top of the spire. You walk round and around for a while and suddenly there is a place to look down at the front of the Church. I thought that the people looked so small and the market stall that was there on the day, looked like a child's toy. I was impressed. Then the upward journey continued. I saw a couple of the bells on the way up and then there was the open section with all the incredible stonework. To think the place was hand made in the old days when they used wooden scaffolding it is just staggering to imagine how skilled these people were. You can look out and see the Gargoyles staring down at the ground below and imagine the face of your mother-in-law in it's place. (Only a joke people, only a joke). But when you arrive at the top of the spire and look out, that is the one worth the exercise it took to get there. The people may have looked tiny from the last view you had; But from this height they are like tiny ants walking around some old Matchbox model cars. (If you remember those toy's as a kid). You have a view of everything from that height. The alps are impressive, the local area looks like a model village in places. All I can say, without waffling on is that this place should be on your visiting list if you ever find yourself in the area. I am not particularly religious but this place has something about it that feels powerful. If I was a believer in forces of the land, or energy points this place would be listed. That may sound silly but there is plenty to read on the subject of energy lines and so on. I am really glad I went here. It was not planned but it certainly showed me the result of people having conviction in...

At a first glance, i saw a beautiful, old brick masonry huge building which is the Ulm Minster or Ulmer Münster. It was just amazing. The front door attracts everyone, nice amazing architecture, beautiful statues and history can be seen everyday. Through a local guide i came to know that the ulm Müster is a Lutheran church. It’s located in Ulm, which is one of the city of State of Baden-Württemberg (Germany). The structure of the Church is one of the tallest in the world. built before the 20th century, with a steeple measuring 161.5 metres which is about 530 ft tall. If anyone wants to go upstairs then Visitors can climb the 768 steps that lead to the top of the minster's spire. At a height of 143 m it gives a panoramic view of Ulm in Baden-Württemberg and Neu-Ulm in Bavaria and, if the weather is sunny and clear a vista of the Alps from Säntis to the Zugspitze can be seen . In the front of the church there is a big open public space where are many sitting place. In the city almost every major stores are available where can be eaten and nice place to shop. From Ulm main train station it takes just 10 minutes by walk to reach to the church. For more information, kindly visit local tourist information centre in Ulm. I will suggest you to visit this amazing historical building. It’s fabulous.

Ulmer Münster (Ulm Minster) is a Evangelisch-Lutherische (Lutheran) church located in Ulm, State of Baden-Württemberg. It is currently the tallest church in the world and will likely remain so until Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is finally completed. The church is the fifth-tallest structure built before the 20th century, with a steeple measuring 161.5 meters (530 ft.).

Ulmer Münster was begun in the Gothic architecture of the Late Middle Ages (1377), but the building was not completed until the late 19th century (1890) after a hiatus of centuries. When work ceased in 1543, all of the church except the towers and some outer decorations were complete, unlike at Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral) where less than half of the work had been done before construction halted in 1473 (started in 1248).

Visitors can climb the 768 steps that lead to the top of the minster's spire. At 143 m (469 ft.) it gives a panoramic view of Ulm in Baden-Württemberg and Neu-Ulm in Bavaria, and in clear weather, a vista of the Alps from Säntis to the Zugspitze (highest point in Germany).

Though it is sometimes referred to as Ulm Cathedral because of its great size, the church is not a cathedral as it has never been the episcopal see of a bishop. Though the towers and all decorative elements are of stone masonry, attracting the attention of visitors, most of the walls, including the façades of the nave and choir, actually consist of visible brick. Therefore, the building is sometimes referred to as a brick church. As such, it lays claim to the rank of second- to fourth-largest, after San Petronio Basilica in Bologna and together with Frauenkirche in München and St. Mary's Church in Gdańsk. The tower, however, was mainly built from sandstone.

The tale/legend of the Ulmer Spatz (sparrow) is an interesting story. I received a pamphlet at the Ulm Tourist Information: the inhabitants of Ulm needed a particularly large beam for the construction of Ulm Minster, but could not get it through the city gate. As they were about to tear the gate down, they noticed a sparrow carrying a straw for its nest; which turned it from crosswise to lengthwise in its beak. A realization descended on the people of Ulm. Since that epiphany, they have placed long loads along rather than across their carts and were able to enter the city without rebuilding their gate.

It's a must visit when you are in Ulm. Gothic architecture is magnificent, and you'll earn bragging rights of having been to the tallest church...
