Brauhaus Schönbuch — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Calw

As we couldn't get a reservation at the Schönbuch Brauhaus in Böblingen, my friends and I decided to try the restaurant in Calw. The restaurant was practically empty, probably because of the town festival that was going on. Finding parking was pretty difficult as the parking places in front of the restaurant were closed due to the festival. I wish the restaurant would have mentioned this on the website and indicated where alternate parking was available.

The restaurant is spacious, with a similar ambience to the Böblingen restaurant. The menu is the same, and the deep fried pork knuckles were just as delicious, and the portions were just as gigantic. Just like in Böblingen, it was hard to get the attention of the staff, even though the place was crowded.

What a pleasant surprise! Went with friends on a short hike near Calw and then we wanted to find a place for lunch and beer. The Brauhaus Schönbuch was just perfect. Inside is modern, open, and welcoming. The outside terrace overlooks the river and is a great place to soak in the afternoon sunshine (though not as many tables as inside).

There is a good assortment of local beers (will need to come back to try them all) and was perfect refreshment after a nature walk. The food was delicious as well. The menu offers an assortment of more "traditional" German food as well as salads and even some vegetarian/vegan options. Very nice brewery restaurant on the river in Calw. Tasty local dishes and an excellent selection of beer. For a local taste, try a Cola Weizen, something I have only heard of in the south of Germany. Arrive early for both lunch and dinner as the place is popular and can fill up quickly. For parking, there is parking infront of the restaurant, alternatively, and cheaper, park in the Kaufland car park only 2 minutes walk away.
