No.5 — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Konstanz

About 4 weeks ago, I gave this place 4 stars. But now, I feel I must share the terrible experience we had. We came for dinner, but had to leave in just 30 minutes — after being thrown out.

After eating one side of my pizza, I turned the other side and saw a huge black fly inside. (Luckily, I had taken photos for Instagram. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to prove it. You can clearly see the fly in the photos — I almost ate it.)

I quietly informed the staff. At first, their response was polite. They asked, “Would you like something else?” and I kindly said no, thank you.

But things changed quickly. My wife had barely eaten her pizza, but after seeing the fly, she lost her appetite and couldn't continue. We said we only wanted to pay for the drinks and leave. But they told us we had to pay for everything — including the pizza with the fly inside. Their explanation was: “Maybe the fly fell in during baking, or maybe it was a flying insect — we can't do anything about that. Or maybe you put it there...”

Then the owner came to our table, grabbed the beer I was drinking in a very aggressive way, and started shouting and insulting us, finally kicking us out of the restaurant.

The worst part is, even though there was a Turkish staff member working in the kitchen (I heard the owner call him “Yasin”), the owner woman made racist comments like “That’s how Turks are, dirty Turks.” This was very offensive, very disrespectful, and completely unacceptable — especially in a city like Konstanz.

I am a business manager in Konstanz, and I’ve been to this place many times with my team before. But this time, not only was there a hygiene issue, but also an unbelievable attitude from the management. Instead of apologizing, they treated us like we were the problem. Wir wollten zu zweit etwas dort essen. Als der Kellner kam, bestellte ich 1 Radler und meine Mutter einen Apfelshorle. Der Service brachte mir ein Bier und den bestellten Apfelshorle. Auf meine Frage hin:" dass dies kein Radler sei", meinte er:" Wir haben nicht in Flasche"(???)! Ok zum Essen, die Speisekarte ist sehr übersichtlich, wenn nicht zu sagen klein. Da es nur Tagliatelle und Pizza's gab , ( Ausnahme Lasagne), fragte meine Mutter , ob sie Spaghetti al Oglio haben könne, was verneint wurde, also da sie ja Tagliatelle hatten, fragte sie nach Tagliatelle agli Oglio. Mit einem ( oh mann die nervt Gesicht), nahm der Kellner meine Bestellung auf, eine ganz normale Pizza Prosciutto. Die Tagliatelle kamen ernsthaft nach 2min und meine Pizza ca 5 min spöter. Soweit so gut. Ich versuchte zuerst die Tagliatelle, welche nicht verkocht waren, sondern im Gegenteil, sie waren nicht bissfest, sondern hart. Geschmacklich schmecken sie weder noch. Doch nun zum Höhepunkt: meine Pizza. Hier war der Rsnd schön aufgegangen, aber 2mm vom Rand weg, war alles matschig. Man konnte keine Pizzaecke ausschneiden, denn alles dierkt nach dem Rand flutschte in die Mitte, dort war der Teig auch noch roh und die Beilagen kalt. Ich konnte leider nur 2 Bissen vom Rand verzehren. Als wir zum Zahlen riefen, kam dann der nächste Höhepunkt an Unverschämtheit. Ich selbst habe über Jahre in verschiedenen Positionen im Gastgewerbe gearbeitet, aber dies toppte alles. Nach der Frage ob es gut war(?) (ich sehe doch, dass die Gäste fast nichts gegessen haben), sagte ich ihr; dass die Tagliatelle quasi zu hart waren und die Pizza ein Matschhaufen bis auf den Rand. Anstelle von :" oh entschuldigen sie oder das tut uns leid ", riss sie mit zwei Finger den Teigrand auseinander und sagte in einem putzigen und unfreundliche Ton;" Bei uns ist das original Neapolitanische Art"! Ich war momentan sprachlos, was mir selten passiert, konnte mich aber wieder fangen, bis die Rechnung kam. 38.81€!!! Also legte ich ihr 2x20€-Noten hin und sie wünschte uns noch einen schönen Mittag. Da musste ich Sie leider unterbrechen und sagte:" ich bekomme noch 1.19€ Retourgeld, das ist die typische Schweizer Art, wenn man unfreundlich bedient wird und das Angebotene nicht geniessbar war. EINMAL UND NIE MEHR WIEDER!! Habe noch nie eine 1 Sterne Bewertung mit so gutem Gewissen abgegeben. Noch ein nicht unwesentliche Details zu den WC's. Es gibt zwar zwei WC- Schüsseln, welche aber nur durch einen Duschvorhang ( Männer unf Frauen) getrennt sind!! Vielleicht auch die typische...

Very poor customer service. After having ordered everything, we were told that they are unable to cook it because they don't have the ingredients.

How can a restaurant that claims to be Italian, not cook any Pasta?

Ended up having just a few drinks and one starter. Because nothing on the menu was available!? To make matters worse, we were unable to pay by card.

The right thing to do would be to make a notice that says you don't accept Payment with card. At least those of us who don't carry cash would be prepared for the added disappointment.

Also, 3 drinks and a starter should not cost €30...
