Hotel Restaurant Sonne — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Offenburg

I booked this hotel through a third-party site and was given a room in the (modern) back building. My window overlooked an office building, so the shades were pulled most of the time. I have a feeling the rooms in the older building are much better, but didn't see any of them. My room was small but functional; the bathroom had liquid soap but no shampoo or conditioner. The shower was very good. There was no fridge or minibar in the room, and no air conditioning but there was a small oscillating fan. Typical older hotel, so just be prepared for that. If you're parking a car, you'll need to drive into the pedestrian zone to get to the hotel's driveway. Breakfast was good but if you show up an hour before closing, some of the items will be gone and not replenished. I don't recommend the hotel's restaurant; although the staff was extremely friendly, the food was the type that's given German cooking its less-than-stellar reputation over the years. Das Hotel ist nahezu so zentral gelegen, wie es ging. Vom ICE-Bahnhof sind es gut 10 Minuten Fußweg über die Haupteinkaufsstraße zum Hotel. Das Gebäude liegt zwischen dem Rathaus und dem Polizeirevier.

Ein Bus hält direkt vor der Hotelzufahrt. Die Zimmer können mit Karten geöffnet werden, ohne Leser, sondern per NFC (einfach Karte vorhalten). Außerdem gab es einen Raucherraum mit Kaffeemaschine.

Was mich gestört hat, waren die Teppiche. In den Fluren waren diese absolut schlampig verlegt. Entweder lässt man sie weg oder lässt sie professionell als Boden verlegen.

Im Zimmer noch schlimmer: Wir sind mehrfach beinahe gestürzt, weil wir auf den Teppichen ausgerutscht sind. Um alle Seiten des Bettes herum waren Teppiche, die extrem rutschig waren und schlichtweg unnötig. Weder sahen sie schön aus, noch haben sie einen weiteren Zweck.

Die Zimmer selbst waren sehr zufriedenstellend. Das Bett äußerst bequem, das Bad modern. Alles sehr sauber, hier gab es keine Mängel.

Gestört hat uns die Tatsache, dass das WLAN, mit welchem auch geworben wird, den größten Teil unseres Aufenthalt nicht funktionierte. Wenn es mal funktionierte, flogen wir alle paar Minuten aus dem WLAN, und zwar alle Geräte gleichzeitig. Auch hat uns geärgert, dass man hier über die Kupferleitung ein ganzes Hotel mit dem Internet verband. Offenbar auch mit einem sehr alten Vertrag, denn mehr als 6 Mbit/s konnte man über das WLAN nicht erreichen, obwohl Unitymedia 120 anbieten würde.

Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist die Rezeption. Die war einfach nicht besetzt. Ständig. Kein Schild "Sie erreichen uns unter 0172...", keine Klingel, keine Information. Nur ein Hund, der mitten im Flur rumlag. Gestört hat auch der Porsche Cayenne, der ständig vor der Tür zur Rezeption parkte und, der seitlichen Folierung zu entnehmen, wohl den Eigentümern des Hotels gehört.

Das Frühstück von 7-10 war den Hotelsternen angemessen. Es gab Frischkäse, div. Wurst- und Käsesorten, Säfte, eine kleine Brotauswahl, Obstsalat, Nuss-Nugat-Creme (leider keine nutella, sondern ein ungenießbares Imitat), Honig, div. Kaffeespezialitäten und Spiegelei sowie gekochte Eier auf Bestellung. Leider wurde zu selten nachgelegt, der Bacon und das Rührei waren nur lauwarm und es fehlten Remoulade, Kräuter sowie geschnittene Salatgurken, und Tomaten, um sich das Brötchen etwas zu "pimpen".
