The Square — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Offenburg

Good enough place with great service.

Cozy atmosphere, with a nice central stage where tables look fancy;

Good location, right in the city center and close to the main train station;

Not crowded for lunch at the weekend, despite being in the Christmas market area;

Good service (our waiter was very friendly and professional, paying attention to the table situation and never intruding on the guests);

= The Food is decent, but nothing to brag about (the fries are regular McDonald's style fries rather the homestyle one usually served with burgers in proper restaurants).

prices rather high (for example, the Radler comes in 0.4 for the normal price of a 0.5 beer; the apple juice is also expensive, and the burgers, too; I believe it was 16 euro for a chilly burger without French fries).

In the end, you won't regret visiting The Square, but if I stop in Offenburg again, I'll probably want to check other...

Horrible service, wont allow my son to eat McDonald’s while we ate anything from this restaurant. In other words, we were kicked out from the establishment just because we have a young kid with us.

Edit after the answer of the owner...... the question here is not my parenting, you don’t know the situation (and the circumstances) that led me into your restaurant with my family and a bag of Mc Donald’s food, so please do not judge based on the few information I gave you earlier.

I would give my son your food, no problem, if you gave him a cool gadget.

A few other restaurants nearby yours accepted us with with no questions asked, right after we were kicked out your place.

So lala, aber der Reihe nach.

Einrichtung und Atmosphäre: Neuer Name, neue Optik? Nein, was früher Coyote hieß heißt heut The Square aber sonst hat sich nix geändert. Teilweiße recht eng bestuhlt, Bilder und Co. wie immer, die Musik oftmals etwas zu laut und von einem Toilettengang rate ich dezent ab (da habe ich schon Kiosktoiletten gesehen die gepflegter waren). Dennoch noch eine gemütliche Atmosphäre.

Personal: Eines der größten Mankos ist, dass hier wohl recht viel "ungelerntes Personal" am Start ist. Anscheinend kommt es drauf an wann man kommt und wer gerade bedient. Beim ersten Besuch wurden wir etwas arrogant von einer Bedienung gefragt was wir wollen (Laden voll aber 4 Bedienungen im Raum)- als wir sagten "essen und trinken" wurde das mit einem eher gestressten Seufzer der Bedienung beantwortet --- also Rückwärtsgang und raus aus dem Laden. Beim nächsten Besuch war ein Kellner am Start der trotz recht vollen Ladens das Geschäft alleine machte und dennoch sehr freundlich und routiniert war (falls der Besitzer hier ab und an ließt --- gib dem Kerl eine Lohnerhöhung da er alleine mehr auf die Reihe bekommt als 4 Bedienungen hätte er es verdient).

Essen: Die Burger und Pommes schmecken gut; gute Qualität und normale Portionen.

Preise: Hier ist auch ein Manko des Square - die Preise sind für ein "Burgerschuppen" im Vergleich mit Läden in Karlsruhe oder Freiburg doch recht hoch; während man in Karlsruhe etwa für einen Burger mit Pommes rund 8€ hinlegt sind es "in der Weltstadt Offenburg" schon 15 € (wie gesagt ich vergleiche hier fast identische Burger die Größenmäßig und Qualitativ ähnlich sind).

Mein Fazit: Kann man mal hingehen und dann entscheiden ob man nochmals kommt, ich selbst habe die Erfahrung gemacht und verzichte in Zukunft darauf.

Die Burger sind gut und die Portionen groß - lediglich der Preis ist happig; für das Geld kann man in einer gut bürgerlichen Wirtschaft auch schon fernab von "FastFood" dinieren.

Wenn mal an Service und der Pflege in den Toiletten gearbeitet wird könnte man vielleicht über den recht hohen Preis drüber wegsehen und ab und an...
