Kyba, situated within the vibrant Afrikiko complex alongside numerous other enticing restaurants, offers an inviting outdoor seating arrangement with strategically placed fans to alleviate Accra's heat. I visited during the bustling December holiday season.
First Impressions Finding the restaurant proved a challenge as it lacked clear signage. After some confusion, we sought assistance from an attendant at a neighboring establishment. The supervisor later explained that their sign was damaged and they were in the process of replacing it, which slightly diminished the initial experience.
Food and Drink We sampled an array of dishes, including the English breakfast, French toast meal, chicken Caesar salad and their jollof bowl. I must say, I was genuinely astonished by how small the salad was—it was, without a doubt, the smallest portion I have ever encountered! Unfortunately, the English breakfast fell short of expectations. The portion was underwhelming—a single slice of bread cut in half, over-toasted to the point of being unpalatable. Additionally, the omelette lacked seasoning, leaving the dish bland.
The French toast meal, which included eggs, sausage, and bacon, was enjoyable, though the portion of French toast could have been more generous. On a positive note, the jollof bowl was well-received, with my mother praising its spiciness, prepared exactly to her preference. This dish also offered a more satisfying portion size compared to the others.
We complemented our meals with fresh juices, but these unfortunately tasted somewhat diluted, which detracted from the overall dining experience.
Service and Atmosphere Customer service was average—adequate but not remarkable. The supervisor’s initiative in seeking feedback was commendable and left a positive impression. The ambiance, however, was a highlight. The setting is both relaxing and aesthetically pleasing, making it an ideal spot to unwind.
Final Thoughts Kyba has potential given its fantastic atmosphere and promising menu - albeit very limiting. While the food was a mix of hits and misses, and the service has room for improvement, a focus on attention to detail—both in the quality of dishes and customer experience—could elevate it to a must-visit destination...
Read moreThis place is aesthetically pleasing but lacking in many ways. I came here a few weeks ago with a group of friends for brunch. The restaurant was not busy, but there were lots of wait staff and bartenders on shift so we expected impeccable service. The cocktails were lovely and served in a timely manner. The drinks were very Instagrammable. It would have been nice if their mocktails had a wider variety of bases. Most used apple juice as a base. The food for our group took over an hour, maybe even 90 minutes to arrive. One staff apologized for the wait but offered nothing to help stave off everyone's hunger. When the food arrived, several members of our group received very undercooked brunch meals. Three members of our group ordered the same dish, yet each was prepared differently. Also, most people's food arrived cold. Portions were extremely small and definitely not worth the wait. I can't even begin to imagine what the food quality and wait time would be if the restaurant was busy! There are better brunch options in Accra. Don't waste your time and money here unless you just want a couple of cocktails...
Read moreLove this place! The food, service & aesthetics were 10/10, we had the french toast breakfast and english breakfast. There’s an option for pork of beef sausage which is great, I had the beef. The eggs too can come the way you like which is great.
My only 2 negatives were that it’s located outside (in this hot hot Accra, not ideal) and where it’s located there are several other restaurants so it’s nested inbetween and quite hard to find. It would be great if they put up some signage to show people where to go.
Aside from that I...
