I attended an event at the newly opened Volta Bistro, located in Cantonments. The place has a very warm, rustic and quaint feel to it. The open floor plan lends to its cozy ambiance.
The owner, Portia, is as sweet as they come, making the experience even more special.
I started with Cassava Chips, one of my favorite snacks in Ghana and they did not disappoint. Perfectly seasoned and and absolutely addicting. I also tried the stuffed plantains for the first time, and I’m already looking forward to ordering them again. Stuffed with sautéed veggies, they were the perfect balance of salty and sweet, dancing on my palate.
Volta Bistro offers a full menu along with a selection of both non-alcoholic and alcoholic herbal drinks. They also have good WiFi so you can stay awhile with your laptop. I’ll definitely be back to explore more...
Read moreI love love love looooove it!!!! These days there’s an influx of settings and aesthetics to Accra. This place has soul! A whole personality on its own. It’s the perfect marriage of rustic and romance. Enough about the environment. Let’s talk about drinks. We had the akpeteshie infused shots as well as date infused shots. The akpeteshie as you can imagine was very strong, if you love your liquor I’m sure you can appreciate it. The chaser shot was mild. I think was sth made with cinnamon. I don’t quite remember. It was strong but taste-wise much milder. The date shot was my favorite. The taste was great and alcohol had a nice buzz to it. What’s more, the prices are reasonable! Good service? Affordable prices? In Accra??? We’ve normalized overpriced places so much that this is a fantastic step-back from all that is...

I had the pleasure of ordering banku with red snapper, egg, and a side of plantain with red and green pepper from Volta Bistro, and let me tell you—it was an experience! 💚🇬🇭⭐
From the first bite, I could taste the freshness and authenticity. Everything had that homegrown, organic flavor that instantly reminded me of a home-cooked meal. The green pepper had just the right amount of kick—you could taste the green chilies without it being overpowering. The banku was soft and fresh, perfectly complementing the fish and vegetables. And that fish? So well-seasoned and cooked with love.
Every bite felt like a taste of home, and I truly enjoyed it. If you’re in Ghana and craving authentic Volta Region flavors, look no further than Volta Bistro—you won’t be...
