Foinikas Coffee & Food ( Gratiné ) — Restaurant in Athens

Came here super early before our flight. The chef wasn’t there that morning , so the lady working there was making our food . After 30-40 min we went to follow up with them and they said they were barely preparing the stuff for the dough .

Since we were on a time crunch we asked if we can get the stuff to go. Luckily she was able to make it but she just revised the ingredients a bit. Despite a rough start to the morning , i would say getting the Croque madame was worth it.

The taste was exquisite. It was smothered in bechamel infused with onion, clove, bay, black peppercorns, thyme, garlic and Dijon mustard, and layered with ementhal, prosciutto cotto and Parmesan cheese, topped with a crispy edged fried egg, dusted with sumac, sea salt and black pepper. Another snack store near Laiko hospital and Saint Thomas Square. Average variety, average to high prices, and boring typical staff.

I bought some lentel spinach pie for 2.10 Euros. Mediocre. Coupled with their typical boring formal behavior. Pure mediocrity. Laikon nearby, is a much better choice.

Good food. I ordered to-go, so didn't stick around the cafe itself, but the place looks nice and clean.

Only minor things here and there got a star less on this review: 1. Spinach pie was overwhelmingly more pie crust than spinach 2. Croutons in the salad were not that good 3. No need to put in plastic cutlery in the bag when I...
