House of Flavours — Restaurant in Athens

Avoid this place like the plague. I ordered 2 dishes, basmati rice, and a mango lassi. The lassi was not authentic at all, and was clearly from a bottle. The color was not creamy indicating the presence of any yogurt. The korma was not a light cream sauce, and was red! The waiter tried to cover the fact that they had no korma by telling me they sometimes make korma with a red sauce. I eat korma a lot and I cook it at home when I'm not traveling, and I don't know anyone who makes it with a red sauce. The rice was not white basmati. It was a blend, and it was clearly all they had already prepared. The sag paneer was the worst I've ever had in look and taste. They keep a few trays of food they've prepared that you see when you enter, and my suspicion is that they merely serve you what they have in those trays no matter what you order from the menu.

Also, the waiter and chef both had very dirty clothes, like they were car mechanics. They weren't food stains -- they were dark dirt stains like they hadn't been washed in days. The place was empty except for a small group of Southeast Asian men hanging out.

Avoid this place at all costs! "Naan Stop" in another neighborhood has food that is 10 times better for similar prices!

Κρατούν μερικούς δίσκους φαγητού που έχουν προετοιμάσει ότι βλέπετε όταν μπαίνετε και η υποψία μου είναι ότι απλά σας εξυπηρετούν αυτό που έχουν σε αυτούς τους δίσκους, ανεξάρτητα από το τι διατάζετε από το μενού.

Επίσης, ο σερβιτόρος και ο σεφ είχαν πολύ βρώμικα ρούχα, όπως ήταν οι μηχανικοί αυτοκινήτων. Δεν ήταν λεκέδες τροφίμων - ήταν σκοτεινοί λεκέδες βρωμιάς, όπως δεν είχαν πλυθεί τις ημέρες. Ο τόπος ήταν άδειος εκτός από μια μικρή ομάδα ανδρών της Νοτιοανατολικής Ασίας που κρέμονταν έξω.

Αποφύγετε αυτό το μέρος με κάθε κόστος! "Naan Stop" σε άλλη γειτονιά έχει τροφή που είναι 10 φορές καλύτερη για...

Normally I try to think of positive things to say before the negative but in this instance I must say that I was deeply disappointed. Normally I have good taste of judgement based on reviews but this was a real hit and miss. The food tasted like it was cooked from the day before. The gentleman who helped us was wearing very dirty clothing which anyone would feel uncomfortable with. The prices were decent but I prefer pay more and enjoy my meal. Then the last straw for me was when I went to use the restroom. Never in my life have I experienced going to use the restroom at a restaurant and 1) the door could not close 2) there was no lighting 3) it was down in a dirty basement We could not wait to leave, I was still a bit shocked at the whole experience a few hours later, just trying to figure out...how...why!!!!??

And oh at the end of this awful experience he asked us to please give him a review. I felt so bad for him!

We stumbled upon this Indian joint, and it was like walking into a cozy Indian home! The decor instantly whisked me away to India with its bold colors and ornate wall designs. Even the bathroom was authentically decked out.

Now, let's get to the good stuff – the service. Our server, Rahman, was an absolute gem. He not only dished out generous servings but also had the sweetest disposition. I'm not a fan of mango, and Rahman pulled a rabbit out of his hat by serving us a mango lassi that miraculously converted me into a mango lover. It was like a mango magic trick!

Every dish was delicious, and the best part – it didn't break the bank. We were so eager to dive into our food that we forgot all about taking foodie pics.
