I will never set foot in this place again. We had visited this restaurant a few times before. The food was never impressive, but the location is convenient for a quick bite after the beach, so we decided to give it another try. Big mistake.
Everything was fine until it came time to pay. I asked to pay by card — and the owner clearly hated that. He’s never provided a proper receipt, only scraps of paper, and this time the POS terminal didn’t process the payment right away. Instead of handling it politely, he waved his arms, insisting my card was “no good.” Completely untrue.
When I asked to try again, the payment went through — but then he shoved his own glasses into my hands so I could enter the PIN, treating me like I was beneath him. When I questioned why he only gave me a total of €54 on a torn paper, without an itemized bill, he shouted at me to sit down and wait. He finally brought a handwritten note in Greek — no official receipt at all.
After I got home, I checked the prices displayed outside his restaurant and noticed he had overcharged me for the sardines we ordered. So not only is the service rude — but the billing is dishonest too.
The owner’s behavior was unacceptable, rude, and insulting. The quality-to-price ratio isn’t good either; there are plenty of much better seafood restaurants in Gritsa. Avoid this place — unless you enjoy being overcharged and...
Read moreWhat an amazing experience we had—twice—at the seafood restaurant Aiolos, with fantastic food and atmosphere. We were served by the owner, Marco’s grandfather. Marco truly spoiled us—not only with delicious fish like dorado and sea bass, but also with his warm and attentive service. In true Greek fashion, he sat down at our table, shared stories about the local area, and even gave us insights into Greek life and culture. We especially enjoyed the story about his grandson, who, at just twelve years old, already helps out with the service from time to time. Truly impressive! Beyond the great atmosphere and fantastic food, the restaurant also offers a beautiful view of the sea. The trees surrounding the restaurant are said to be over 1,000 years old. There’s also a sweet little dog named Lisa, now 17 years old, who roams around. She doesn’t belong to the restaurant but to the nearby supermarket. Still, during the months the restaurant is open, Lisa is always there. When we left, we were gifted some ouzo and a lovely bottle of wine, along with a firm handshake and a heartfelt “see you next time.” Where else do you still experience something like this? This is Greece at its finest. Warm greetings to the wonderful hosts of...
Read moreWith sea views and shade from old growth plane trees, Aiolos provides a beautiful setting for excellent seafood that is fresh and expertly prepared. We were greeted by the owner, Bobbi (Haralabos), shortly upon seating, who explained the menu as fresh and simple, which was an insightful truth. The table bread was fresh and served with fruity and nutty olive oil from Crete. We shared a Greek salad, that had ripe and hearty tomatoes with a good balance of cucumbers, onions, and peppers and was topped with a generous serving of feta, oil, and spice and a ring of olives. We sampled 4 different fish: fried calamari, grilled squid, grilled shrimp, and sea bream. We agreed the shrimp, served whole, was the best we'd ever tasted. The calamari was lightly breaded and served with only lemon, which showcased the tender and delicious flesh. The calamari had a delightful and delicious char and was cooked to perfection. The bream was served whole, head to tail (thought a fillet option is also possible) and was easily the best fish I've ever tasted. The skin was fried to crisp perfection and the flesh was savory and succulent. My family agreed this was one of the best meals of our lives. Cheers Bobbi...
