This place is a hidden gem one street back from the water front in a quiet little street and was absolutely delicious. A cosy sized family feel restaurant. The blue and white interior makes it feel oh so Greek! We decided to choose a few appetisers and share them as our mains so that we could try more than one thing from the menu. Here is what we ordered:
Tzatiki and bread Fried hard cheese Fried zucchini Tomato and cucumber salad Fried calamari Potato fries
Firstly, the Tzatziki was absolutely delicious. It was the best I had tasted in all of my trips to Greece. It had dill in it which sets it apart from some of the others. Served freezing cold to cool you down in the moment. Take your piece of gorgeous Greek bread and dip and enjoy!
Then a moment for the fried cheese. Don’t visit here without ordering this. Crispy on the outside, soft yet firm in the centre and a generously cut lemon wedge to cut through the fried crust in your mouth. Absolutely delicious!
The cucumber and tomato salad is always more than the name suggests, adding capsicum and onion into the mix. A good option to keep a few dollars in your pocket as opposed to ordering the Greek salad option. Just as fresh minus the olives and feta of course.
The fries were more than your average fries and were hand cut potatoes. A nice carb addition to our fresh appetisers.
The fried zucchini which was served with a mini side dish of Tzatiki. These were probably a highlight of my dinner actually. So fresh, crispy on the outside yet soft and fleshy on the inside. Hot to the touch and when dipped into the cool tzatziki the combination was perfect.
The fried squid was the only downfall of the dinner experience. It was overcooked, tough to eat and too crispy. It was served as more legs of the squid and less of the nice fleshy part of the squid. Came with lemon but as it was so crispy it definitely needed some kind of fresh dipping sauce. Sad but a true experience and we hope to enjoy a better calamari next visit back here as we wouldn’t let this ruin our experience overall.
The lady who served us was so nice and friendly and happy to entertain our children. We...
Read moreThe food was okay, but the bill was incorrect. First, the waiter counted 4 glasses of bulk red wine as 4 times 500ml (the glasses were quite normal ones, around 250ml, and they were likely filled up to 150-200ml). We noticed that, but it took maybe 5 minutes to get the waiter to agree.
After we left we took a look at the hand written bill again and we noticed another discrepancy: the items added up to a sum roughly 3 Euro less than the total sum in the bill.
It's either a serious incompetence or a fraud from the waiter's side.
Update: the restaurant owner replied that the waiter was new, he brought his apologies, the calculation in the bill was correct, since a 3.5€ item should have been counted twice.
Point #1 explains everything, and in the sense of “Hanlon’s Razor” I shouldn't have assumed any bad intentions when incompetence is quite obvious.
However, I don't fully agree with points #2 and #3. The waiter may have apologized when bringing back money, but in a way neither I nor my friends noticed. As for the 3.5€ that should be counted twice: the rightmost column in the bill for all other items is price multiplied by the amount. And for this item it was just the price. I'd expect a bit more carefulness when counting money ;)
Anyways, looking at the other reviews here I want to believe that our case was an exception and the restaurant owner takes measures to avoid this sort of stuff in the future. Adjusting my review score...
Read moreTerrible services… we were waiting above 50 minutes just for a French fries and only on the third reminder they brought it us. But it was raw… not recommend.
In response to your answer: If you want to state the fact please stop making false accusations. Me and my friends didn’t eat fries, cause the meal was RAW. We LEFT TWO FULL PLATES and yes we didn’t pay for this part but not because your sorry but because we told that we not gonna pay for RAW fries asking about the bill.
Second, we were asking politely twice, but your employees weren’t helpful, in fact, they ignored our questions. So once my friends had eaten the main course, I walked into the restaurant and annoyedly asked "how much longer are we going to wait, because this is an unacceptable situation." But I DID NOT YELL and went in normally (so STORMING is a gross exaggeration and another lie).
Third, if you call something an appetizer on the menu, by definition it is served before the main course, not after the meal is eaten.
This is my opinion, not that of friends who ordered the main course. I ordered the stuffed eggplant, which yes I ate and paid for, and the fries, which were not well fried and which I did not eat.
However, after reading your response, I do not recommend this restaurant all the more...the worst place I...
