I just returned home after a dinner at the specific restaurant. I understand that the owners put some efforts to provide a memorable experience but the overall feeling is far beyond from this expectation. Me and my friend ordered 5 dishes comprised of a salad, two side dishes and 2 main. First of all we found it very difficult to combine their tastes. All of their Mediterranean dishes were executed on their own signature way, it would be fine if the final outcome had delivered a balanced taste. Starting with the watermelon salad, we found the flavours and blend too intricate, while onions were way too steeped that tasted stale. On the contrary I would prefer it to be freshly cut. But still, it was ok to eat and deal with. Moving on with the second dish, we were offered a very bad and fava spread with a burnt aftertaste. With one voice me and my friend agreed that it was tasteless and bitter with the marinated onion on top. Fried potatoes with paprika were ok (nothing special to be remembered). My main dish (pasta with chicken) admittedly was tasty and I really enjoyed it. On the contrary, my friend’s pasta was way too salty and he kept saying that during the meal. We ended up paying 70 euros and I must correct their price category as the specific venue falls in a three €€€ category and not two when the main dishes are from 15€ to 30€ and the majority of the sides more than 10€. To sum up, it left us a bitter aftertaste, service was fast and efficient but we would...
Read moreI recently dined at Giagia Koukou, and overall, it was a pleasant experience with a few notable highlights and one significant downside.
Food: The food was above average, with a variety of dishes that were both flavorful and reasonably priced. Each dish was well-prepared, reflecting the quality and care put into the culinary creations. However, we encountered a major disappointment when one of the main dishes arrived cold, seemingly straight out of the fridge.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere was great, creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining environment. The ambiance contributed positively to our evening, making it a comfortable place to spend time.
Service: The service was average. While the staff were courteous, we were never asked how our food was, which could have been an opportunity for the restaurant to address the issue with the cold dish promptly.
Despite the unfortunate surprise with the cold dish, I would still recommend Giagia Koukou for its overall good food and pleasant atmosphere. With a little improvement in service, it could become a top-notch...
Read moreThe place looked gorgeous — like the kind of spot you’d propose marriage in — and somehow, despite it being fully booked, they found us a desk. Yes, not a table. A desk. Very romantic if you’re into office furniture. Then came the food. The pancetta arrived so small and dry we briefly debated calling pest control, because it looked suspiciously like a fried mouse. The osso buco somehow managed to be even drier, which I didn’t think was scientifically possible. The Greek fire brigade actually dispatched a helicopter to drop water on our plates so the meat wouldn’t spontaneously combust. The orzo? It tasted like something halfway between a dessert from Marrakesh and prison pasta from Naples... which is to say, confusing yet oddly threatening. For dessert, they presented us with a half-filled shot glass of Masticha liqueur. Apparently, someone forgot the Ottoman Empire no longer rules Greece, and alcohol is allowed — but apparently dessert portions aren’t. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this place to my pet hamster, and he...
