Το Στέκι του Ντέτζη — Restaurant in Kythnos Municipality

As a Greek, I was extremely disappointed by their unprofessional service and the lack of respect. Me and my friend arrived at the tavern at 10:15 on a Friday night. Considering that it’s high season and the island is crowded, it was normal that all tables were full, thus I left my name and my number to the “table manager” to call me for an available table. There were only 4 other groups ahead of us, and he estimated that he would call us in approximately 15-20 minutes. Thus, we scrolled the city waiting for his call. Yet, we received no call and after one hour, we returned to the tavern, where there were lots of free spots and clearly we were forgotten. Without an apology, we proceeded to the table. After waiting for another 20 minutes without being offered water or menu, we asked the lady taking the orders if we may order as well. She replied back to us in an unpleasant tone that there is an order of priority (σειρά προτεραιότητας), which obviously wasn’t the case. After another 10 minutes and seeing her taking orders from 3 other tables which had arrived after us, we couldn’t wait longer and left the establishment. I would like to highlight that both the lady taking the orders and the table manager were unprofessional and impolite. I do understand the volume of work may be overwhelming during high season but we just wasted one hour and a half of our vacation without receiving any respect or apologies for being mistreated. Absolutely unacceptable...

This restaurant made fraud on us . They charged us bread we did not order, for 12 euros . their excuse .we charge per person .and we were 8 persons .. and as you can see in attached picture . The only basket of bread will by no ways takes and will not by any means capable to take more than 3 bread...we told them we did not order bread .. and because we are not a native greek speakers .. their excuse that we must tell them we do not want bread ..ok. I think and know you agree. That they actually must inform us beforehand ... We told them this is cheating and incorrect .. they should ask us if we want bread for each person ..and then they took the old improper invoice by force and I asked them that I want to take picture for it... They took it by force .. and gave me another one completely different than the one before and the new one is more clearer and have tax percentage on it.. I do not know weather the first one was also a fraud invoice or not .. I Hope the police will be of help to give me an...

The food was tasty and the portions were adequate. Prices were good, albeit within the touristy Greek Cycladic range. Drinks were nicely cooled, I had the coldest Cola in weeks there.

Service was a tad slow, with lack of clarity of roles. Given we were a walk-in of 9 people this was to be expected but the overall busy environment added to the experience. Took 35min to get our order in, another 20 to get food going and settling the bill was tricky as their system went down and had to repeat our order from scratch to get our total.

Nevertheless, the location, the hosting, decor and ambience is very nice, inviting and feels very original with old pieces of machinery, tools, fabrics and traditional decorations going on.

A fair share of the cat population makes this restaurant unique.

The best part was the waiting area, decorated to be inviting, but can get crammed...
