Το Κουτούκι του Νικόλα — Restaurant in Metsovo Municipality

Finding this place is a rather pleasant and thrilling experience. As one goes up the stairs the expectations build up but only to come falling down in my personal experience. The environment is a little bit awkward. On one hand the name of the restaurant makes you think you are walking into a traditional setting but on the other hand the decoration, music and experience leaves you indifferent as there is no character. As for the service I found it rude and inexperienced at best. We were 2 people and wanted to have a taste of everything so when we asked if a variety of their meats would be available the waiter informed us that it would be too big for us and didn't say why or how or offered any alternatives. Like... We wanna give you our money... Take it. When we asked if it would be possible for us to be seated outside he told us that we would get cold and when we informed him that we are prepared for it he then explained that he didn't want to bother the people near the doors. Had he said that from the beginning we wouldn't mind it at all but if we ask you if it is possible for us to be seated outside it probably is because we know we can. Last but not least the food is pleasant yes but also indifferent. It tastes good but it is the kind of meal that you will be trying to remember the next day and find that you can't. Underwhelming all in all, and I would definetely not bother...

Oh boy, it makes you think this small family tavern is just one of those several places where you could go being pretty sure you'll be served a decent meal.

Let me tell you a secret: this score is very misleading cause this is not one of those places! Not at all!

If you ever go to Metsovo, do yourself a favor: visit this restaurant!

This is absolutely the best place you can find for tasting traditional greek food! Not only in Metsovo but in the whole Greece!

This place is so underrated!

We've been in Greece many times by now(one of my favorite holiday destinations) and this is the second time we visited Metsovo.

One of the reasons we chose to stop for one night in Metsovo(on our way back from holiday) was to visit this restaurant once again.

We feared maybe this second time won't feel the same. We already knew the place, high expectations were set from the first visit, who knows?

We took some spicy fried cheese and olives as a starter, mousaka and lamb kleftiko for the main dish. Food was delicious, the service excellent, the whole experience top notch once again. Prices are more than decent.

The aromanian family who runs this place are lovely people: very kind and humble, helpful and polite.

A fantastic traditional Greek tavern with great food quality and terrific pricing to go with! Armed with local meat and cheese, "To Koutouki tou Nikola" is well equipped to please your hungry stomach. Everything we tried was perfectly grilled and/or cooked, was made with quality ingredients and tasted awesome. The pork steak was tasty, soft, accompanied by handmade french fries. The konto souvli was outstanding. The Greek salad was perfect, lots of tomatoes, onions, olives and cucumber, freshly cut with care. The feta cheese was as tasty as it gets. The saganaki was crunchy on the outside and creamy inside. The staff was very professional, fast and kind. The balcony overlooking the center of Metsovo and the interior of the tavern was nice, spotty clean, and the same applied to their wc. The pricing was very good given the quality and quantity of food, and the inflation due to the gas and power situation in Europe and the war between Ukraine and Russia.
