Antigoni — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Vasileios

Stopped here for a quick lunch. The restaurant was conveniently located on the edge of Spili. What impressed us was the welcome we received. A quick lunch turned into nearly a two hour feast. The traditional Cretan food was delicious and moreish. Mrs Athina, the proprietor and the waitress and seemingly everything else, gave fantastic us service with complementary sweets and drinks before we left. The price was also more than reasonable. It will be some time before I plan to be back in the area, but I will be sure to make another pits...

We spent a week in Spili and ate in Antigoni's four times. It was so great. Alexandra is an amazing host, so friendly, so generous. We played Irish music and sang every night, and even played a few Greek tunes. Alexandra taught us a Greek dance and Nana sang a few songs. Great chef, great food. Only complaint is portions are too generouis 😁. Would go back in a heartbeat. Loved Crete and Taverna Antigoni was the icing...

What a fantastic taverna! We arrived in Spili about lunchtime and called in for directions to our accommodation. Alexandra was so helpful we went back for lunch. We had real Cretan food like baked eggplant which was sensational. We went back twice more for dinner and every meal was top shelf. Alexandra and her mum were so generous and a lot of fun.
