Actually I dont know what all these reviews are. Probaply paid for. Wish I could give them -2 stars. No locals being there, was a very bad sign, but we still stepped in. We ordered stuffed wine leaves, the seemed to be cooked 4 days ago, and heated up over and over again. The rice was just like a paste inside, and the leaves completely dried out, after giving them back with the question of what is this? - the waiter came out with the answer, the cook told me to get out of the kitchen before he gets the wine leaves on my head. We also had a salad, charging 12 euros, but when it came, half of the ingredients were not there, and of course it was the special/good ingredients. We gave it back, the waiter came with the excuse, sorry we dont have all the things for this salad.... SO WHY DO YOU SERVE IT THEN?!?!?! Next, Veggie platter, I dont know how old this oil was they fried them in. Fava, second worst of the whole island. Beet Root salad, no dressing no nothing, just beet root on a plate. Gavros, same thing, very dark, almost burned. Asking them to put the cheese aside, bringing dishes with cheese on top, so some couldn't eat any of the dishes. Dont get me started with hygiene overall..... So either the are just amateurs, or they're just scamming people. I think it the second one. They are scammers and sorry to say so, but people who wrote nice reviews, either had a lucky day, or they dont really know about food at all. A very bad place, with an arrogance out of this world combined with really bad food. And do yourselves a favour, dont drink the Raki they will bring you after asking for the bill. Its more like...

Each bite was a crunchy, savory delight that left us craving more.
For our main course, we dove into the grilled prawns and pork souvlaki. The prawns were massive and perfectly grilled, while the addition of smoked bacon took them to a whole new level of deliciousness. And let's not forget about the grilled sea bream—fresh, flaky, and bursting with flavor. It was like a taste of the Mediterranean on a plate!
But what truly stole the show was the warm hospitality of the family-operated taverna. From the friendly smiles to the attentive service, they made us feel right at home. And as if the meal couldn't get any better, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert and raki to top it all off. Talk about ending the night on a high note! 🌟
Overall, our dinner at Provlita Taverna was an unforgettable experience that left us dreaming of sandy beaches and fresh seafood. If you find yourself in Kalyves, make sure to stop by for a taste of Greek hospitality and mouthwatering cuisine. You won't be disappointed! 🍤🍴🌊

Read moreVery disappointed with my return to Provlita, definitely not the high standards that you used to experience here year-after-year.
Wrong starters brought to us and main courses brought out as only a single piece of fish each, without the accompaniments that are always normally present. All of the other tables around us received their main courses as normal and when we enquired about mistakes we were either avoided, told they would go and find out, told we’ve told them too late to change it, or told that it was because we weren’t Greek and that’s the way Greek people eat. I have been coming to Crete for the past 16 years and can assure you that we order and eat as the locals do.
I used to look forward to Provlita as a high-quality meal and great experience, but have to say it’s definitely lost it’s touch. Yet it still has the highest price tag of anywhere in town. Neither myself or my family will...
