I am not one to usually give a negative review, was always told if you don't have something nice to say then keep it to yourself. BUT there are occasions. We went to Kaiser's Throne which is a fantastic thing to see the island from, and as we were leaving to get lunch elsewhere we saw the Sunset Cafe. We thought a coffee and a cold drink would be nice. The view was spectatular, it was not busy only about 7 different tables had some people. So we looked at the menu, it seemed pretty normal, had the usual suspects, so we thought we would try it instead of driving to another resturant. Oh did we make a mistake. We arrived about 1.15pm, we waited next to a table with a small baby, they seemed to have ordered. After about 15 minutes a lady (the only member of staff front of house) took our order. We then began the wait....... after about 20 mins the drinks arrived (sitting in 25 degrees), not hard drinks, just a bottle of still water and 2 small bottles of Coke Zero. But no greek coffee. And we waited. The family next to us is dealing with the baby and waiting, after another 15 or so minutes they got their food. They had finished by the time we had received our starters Tzatziki and Kalamari. Now the Kalamari was very nice but thats where the food went downhill. We ate cleared up our own plates after about 20 mins, hoping they might notice! They people next to us, ate paid and left, they were not happy. Eventually the woman took the plates and said main course soon. About 10 mins later she brought one meal, and said yours is coming (pointing at me). My wife starts eating as her food is only warm, she is almost finished when mine arives 10 minutes later. Istart to eat, my wife finishes and the woman takes my wifes plate away whilst i am still eating! About 3pm I finished, walked in and asked to pay, she abruptly asked if cash or card, I asked how much. She said 60 Euros, i paid thinking it seemed a little over the top expecting somewhere between 50 and 55, but to be honest i could not be bothered to fight the bill. And for the first time all holiday NO TIP. I then unfortunately read the other reviews and agree with most, fantastic view, i would imagine especially at sunset, but also with the awful service, adding money to the bill...
Read morethe place is literally in front of the "kaiser's throne" viewpoint. the location is among the most beautiful ever seen: a very well furnished terrace with a spectacular view and a swimming pool below. the place inside is less beautiful but still nice. we ate a very good and abundant mussel saganaki, a seafood pasta (this one disappointed me a little due to the cinnamon which really ruins the pasta) and a huge and delicious grilled sea bass. finally the lemon pie, the best in my life. highly recommended!!! we spent €31.50 each, dividing a sweet, a starter and I taking a first course and my boyfriend a second course. the staff was very courteous, the waiter accidentally brought us a saganaki cheese instead of saganaki mussels and apologized at least three times (the other waitress also apologized for the mistake of the...
Read moreI recommend everyone to avoid this restaurant. Except the view nothing positive there. The staff Is kind and helpful but it can't compensate really negative experience. They completely ruined my evening. After 2 hours of waiting (They brought everything at once, instead of as soon as it's ready or first the salad and appetizers) food disappointed me even more - lower quality than every greek taverna I've ever been. Absolutely tasteless! We've finished our dinner as quick as possible (at 10p.m. we were hungry after all, and the reservation was for 8 p.m.). I've asked for the bill. They brought it without wine included, very humiliating gesture telling me it is on the house. I told them, the waiter and owner I'll write this in all social media and I don't want their gifts at all, and paid...
