Alexandros is the reason this pension/restaurant is so excellent. Extremely friendly and charming, with excellent English (from visits to York) he runs the place from morning to night. It is 2* accomodation, so do not expect luxury, but a good, clean room and excellent value is what you get, with a fridge and a view from your balcony to die for, and Alexandros to look after you. We met guests who returned year after year.|Old Pelegas itself is an authentic old greek village, with windy narrow lanes/alleys, whitewashed buildings and a few old ruins. Many an artist has stayed there. It is only a mile from the excellent Pelekas beach, but it is 900 feet above sea level. There is a coutesy bus from Pelekas bus stop to a beachside hotel that Alexandros says the driver will allow you to join, or you can walk it - we did! The Corfu town (blue) bus goes from the bus stop 500 yards down the main road and it only takes 20 minutes - well worth the 1.60 euro fare. If you want a supermarket, try the one 100 yds down the Glyfada road (nice old bloke runs it). Glyfada beach is well known for its beauty and is just over 2 miles away (again, walked it), but there is (green) bus from there which gets you up most of the hill when you come back with a further mile to walk. Alternatively, hire a car, there is parking by the entrance to Pelegas. If you are getting a taxi to/from the airport, ask Alexandros and he will arrange one at a better rate than you will get from the internet.|My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary there, and had an excellent holiday in somewhere truly, authetically greek, charming in its simplicity and...

Read moreThe restaurant looked good and we wanted to sit and have lunch there. However when we were taking our place, the owner shouted from 10 meters away, quote "That table is not for 2 people" (we were going to sit on a table for 4). Considering it was very sunny and there were only 2 tables under the shade from only a single umbrella, 1 of which taken and the other being too big for us, I told him if it's not possible to stay there they cannot offer us anything. And headed to the exit.
The guy who acted like an owner of the place started shouting at my back something in Greek and then said "Enjoy your holidays in your country, stay at home next time and don't come to Greece". It was a very impudent and mean act, which made us feel we're at the wrong place in Corfu. Initially he sounded like he was sorry but after he realized we cannot be their clients anymore he started acting insulting and even disturbing.
I can see the owner is very responsive to bad comments in Google maps but I'd question his good intentions in terms of really wanting to provide better service. I would assume the sole reason fir that is to keep their reviews high, but not really do anything for the better of their clients.
As a recommendation I would offer them to be more polite, welcoming and...
