MANOLIS TAVERNA/RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

On our Second visit (first visit service and food were both good) we were shown to a table by nice young waiter.. Couple of minutes later the manager came and told us the table was reserved and moved us inside to another table. Only when he came to take our order he asked had we booked and was clearly told no. He then returned angrily accusing us of pinching table and making the people who had now been turned away angry. He said it was our fault. We then advised him he had sat us down and clearly embarrassed by his own very angry behaviour he left. So did we. He is also now clearly a liar as he accused us of being drunk. Clearly untre. I had been driving. Such a shame. Nice place good food. Spoilt by behaviour and lies of an extremely stressed and angry man. Try it at your peril. No doubt a predictable response to this...

Bit blandly seasoned food, however not the worst either. Price was cheapish, so was not expecting anything crazy. Less than average dishes compared to rest of the restaurants in the area, however did only order fried cheese, dish of the day (minced meat, lacked texture)

When we ate there there were only one couple with us, yet service was still slow. Waiter usually spent time talking/looking on the phone and was hard to reach. After waiting a good while for them to come pick up the card for charging, i went inside and payed for the food in the counter. After leaving the restaurant, noticed that the waiter was facetiming his friend etc in front of the place.

Free dessert was best part of the meal, but their raki was plain water. I dont know how water got into the...

Jolly local taverna catering a little more for tourists than locals. It really stands out from the crowd because they see tourists as potential repeat customers and take a great deal of care of them. As a result, people come back year after year and are greeted and treated like old friends. They are also very generous and will slip you treats and drinks. As for the food, the chicken souvlaki was unbelievably tender and is well worth ordering. We ordered a bunch of small plates, all of which were delicious.
