We arrived late on a Sunday night and had been told in advance that as the reception would be closed that instructions on how to get to our rooms would be on the door. When we arrived, the instructions were easy to find and follow but as we had arrived before the bar had closed, the bar man (John?) came out and showed us (and 2 other couples) to our rooms anyway. On arrival in our room we saw that we had been upgraded from a studio to a 1 room apartment. The rooms were very clean and a good size with a balcony overlooking the pool. We did get a chance to see a studio room before we left and this also seemed a good size and we would also have been happy to stay in one of these. All of the hotel staff from the receptionists to the cleaners were very friendly and helpful, especially the bar staff. Sifis and John? who worked at the bar were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in our comfort, remembering what drinks and food we liked to order and at what time. We did eat a couple of times at the pool bar and I would like to recommend the Cretan Salad made by Sifis. John was very good at making my new favourite cocktail - Zombie although with 4 different rums I wasn't able to drink too many. The pool area was very clean and quiet although it did start to get busier towards the end of the week (we stayed at the beginning of June so there weren't many children). The hotel is 5 minutes from the main part of town and there are about 5 restaurants within 2 minutes. All in all we had a wonderful time and would happily return to both the area and the hotel.

One of the best hotels in Crete Our Review of Minos Village This hotel is the one you are looking for. We just got home after a fantastic 10 day stay at Minos Village Apartments. Where to start, so many good things to list. The apartments are very clean, have a small kitchen area, with a decent sized living room with 2 air conditioners and a clean modern bathroom. The apartments surround the swimming pool which is perfect for both children and adults alike. The apartments are cleaned daily by fastidious cleaning staff who do a great job. The restaurant + bar area is located on a large balcony overlooking the pool, so ideal if you want to sip a few cocktails while the kids splash around in the pool below you. The location of Minos Village is ideal, a five minute walk away from the main coastal road so it is a bit quieter away from the traffic, but is also surrounded by some of the best traditional Greek Tavernas and restaurants. Finally the staff, the amazing hosts Sifis (Joseph) and his wife are absulolutely wonderful, welcoming, helpful beautiful people, who also can make fantastic food and delicious cocktails ( we would recommend their Paloma and Mai Tais). The breakfast spread is top notch every single morning, fresh and delicious. We will definately be going to Minos Village again, it is the perfect base to explore Crete from. I really cannot recommend Minos Village highly enough. You will not be dissapointeded if you book a holiday here. Adam and Helen Robey.

Rooms are decent. It’s unfortunate they do not provide cleaning gear to wash the dishes as there is no dishwasher. We had some problems with our fridge too, sometimes we would wake up and the fridge was off and the food we were keeping had spoiled and drinks were warm. They came to check and said everything was fine but issue persisted intermittently. The cleaners are great though, they come and freshen your room every day if requested. The aircon is a little dated but it works REALLY well. If you just want somewhere comfortable to come and lay your head at night, swim in a beautiful pool during the day and drink some (VERY NICE) cocktails with little staff interference then this is the place for you - having said that, the staff are very helpful if you need something and are all extremely nice people. The breakfast buffet is also decent. The bacon and sausages are weird (like fried ham and mini hot dogs) but other than that, lots of lovely yoghurt and fresh fruit, pastries etc

We arrived late, reception was closed, there was a note with instructions to find our room which we knew about, however the lovely barman was just closing the bar and insisted on helping us to our room.|First impression was great, our room was spotless and a good size with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool.|Our first day was spent by the pool after we had done a small supermarket shop.|Unfortunately we were a little disappointed by the layout and lack of space around the pool the sun beds are mainly along one wall almost touching each other, they are directly in front of properties which is a bit awkward if they are sat outside on thier terrace.|The way the pool is central with the properties all around made the sounds coming from children from the pool echo which can be very noisy during busy months. |We had to go in August so if you want a peaceful read around the pool dont go in the school holidays.|We also found the pool to be in need of a clean, in the 2 weeks we were there we used the pool twice.||We always go self catering as we enjoy eating lunch and dinner out, we dont book breakfast as this would spoil our appetite for lunch|The one other thing that disappointed us was there was a large filter coffee machine we never used, a sandwich maker when we would have made a better use of a toaster for breakfast, we have always had toasters as toasted sandwiches tend to be available at most pool bars we wouldn't bother buying products to make them.|The other thing was the hairdryer,|If you want to actually dry or style your hair or have long hair this dryer is not for you, its is wall based and in the bathroom, it would barely dry your hands so I suggest you take your own. |Having said all this...|Minos village is spotless, the house keeping is spot on all staff are hard working, friendly and it's a good place for children.|There was never anyone around the bar of an evening which we did miss so made sure we didn't rely on going back to mingle with other guests as we have always been use to.|We did tend to spend an hour after coming back from a day on the beach, the happy hour was always popular but it did tend to go quiet after that time.|Bar snacks and drinks were great.|We would not return only due to the lack of space around the pool as I felt it to be a little too compact.|We did find other guests our age in a couple did have similar opinions.||Also as we had a late return flight we enquired about having the room for the day, we were told we could pay €140 to book it or wait until the day before for a better rate, as the room had not been taken we were offered it for €70 which we did pay, we were a little disappointed it wasn't less having had spend 2...

Just got home after a 10 night stay at Minos village hotel. Miss it already......|I cannot recommend this hotel enough for many reasons. |It is a modern and well kept hotel. |Our room was very clean and spacious. The room was cleaned everyday except Sundays. (Clean bedding and towels). All the cleaners work very hard as do all of the staff.|It started with a warm welcome at reception by Andreas, who took our cases up to our room. (Which smelt fresh and clean). It was well equipped and big enough with a balcony that overlooked the pool. Great air-conditioning as well, no extra charge. |All of the staff are warm, friendly and happy to do anything for you. Everyday we were welcomed with a good morning and a smile. I would like to say a particular thank you to the following staff.|Nedi, for making me the best cocktails 🍸 everyday. A lovely young lad who works very hard.|Selda and Joseph who sort breakfast everyday, Joseph cooks the best food.... Nothing is too much trouble for them. |Also on front desk there is Anna who gave us so much local information and was always making sure we were okay.|There was Kostantinos (front of house) he booked all of our trips and filled us in on all of the details 😀 which was very useful.|The pool area was fine for us and always found a sunbed...the bar and food area overlooks the pool. I would definitely recommend staying here as, all of the staff are a great team and really do make a difference. They also have beach towels to hire for 1.50 euro...if needed. A shower room and somewhere to store luggage are available if you are leaving late. The hotel is a 10 minutes walk to the beach. The surrounding restaurants are all good and they welcome you will a smile. Top tip....every restaurant offers complementary fruit (melon or cake) with a small decanter of Raki. |There is more than restaurants within a couple of minutes walk and loads in the main town by Aiga Marina. It is worth taking a walk around some of the side roads as there are some hidden gems of restaurants. |All in all definitely a lovely hotel with lovely staff in a great area. |Thank you to all of you for making...

Could have been a five star review if the hotel didn’t take large groups and addressed some basics. |We had asked for an upper floor room but on arrival at 11pm as the reception was closed we were left a note with our room number 109. This was in the bottom corner in complete darkness and the next 10 days we had to have the lights on all day. We had no natural light and no opening window so this was the main thing that ruined our stay. There was a large group of 30+ which were overly loud and on numerous occasions took all the sun loungers just before midnight so no one else had a chance to sit by the pool. This was a very small hotel maybe 40 rooms so possibly 100 max occupancy but only 25 sun loungers. We knew this might be an issue so prepared to have to go elsewhere some days. The lady manager was good and signs were put up after a number of guests complained but this did spoil the holiday for a lot of regular guests who did say they wouldn’t return again. The pool was small but adequate however the water made everyone’s swimwear green and was never got under control whilst we were there. |The shower was large with good hot water but there was no light over so had to shower in the dark. |The lady who cleaned our room told us off for a mark on the bed sheets saying it was from my daughter’s bikini she was extremely rude to us ||The positives|The hotel was clean and modern||The staff were friendly (except the 1 cleaner) ||Breakfast choice was sufficient ||The beds would be comfy for people with no back issues ||Rooms cleaned daily and towels changed ||The hotel was near to the Main Street and beach ||Lots of nice restaurants within minutes of the hotel ||Near to beach and shops ||The negatives|Room was dark and out front was a table and chairs in the dark in front of the door next to the smokers next door||storage was terrible 1 small wardrobe as the only storage for a family of 4 absolutely nowhere to put our clothes had to use the dining table ||Not really able to do self catering as no space to prepare food ||No opening window in room ||Not enough sun loungers for even half the guests ||Pool...
