PETRA FAMILY RESTAURANT BAR — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

Review for beginning of July 2025:

Went for a late lunch, after reading the good reviews. -Best grilled shrimps wife had in Crete in the 5 days prior. Menu came with fries, quite consistent portion. -Chicken souvlaki delicios as well, 1 skewer with a special sauce/gravy that I never tasted before in Greece. Serving came with salad and some fries. -grilled feta cheese, somewhat similar to boyourdi with a lot or green peppers and fewer tomatoes. Delicious aswell. It was missing (as per my linking) some pita bread, which borrowed from the souvlaki.

Serving and meal preparation was quite fast, considering it was made to order. As a dessert we were offered chocolate ice cream with portokalopita (orange syrup cake), some non alcoholic cocktail for the child and raki/ouzo. The cake was absolute delicious, home made.

Payment accepted by card also contactless or tap to pay or NFC. Would definitely return here.

It's worth mentioning the bathrooms were spotless clean, nice smell and there is a large giraffe statue in the terrace.

Me and my friends came here for a holiday meal out and this place did not disappoint! We were welcomed by a very friendly and accommodating owner/ host who made us comfortable with ease. We were a large party of 12 and the restaurant handled us easily. We were served unbelievably tasty cocktails and the food followed the trend. I personally had some of the best tasting lamb that I have ever had while my friends had large portions of gyros and were also impressed with the quality. This is a new restaurant this year.We ordered moussaka and a chicken Souvlaki plus draft beer.The moussaka was exceptionally good.My wife's Chicken Souvlaki less so ..Whilst it was nice to get salad what we didn't expect was a pile of pitta bread.As far as I am aware nobody else in resort is doing this.The amount of chicken was less than you would expect and the skewer had unfortunately caught so some of the veg was somewhat charred..Saying that both dishes tasted very good.I used the pitta bread up on my moussaka..We were provided with a free sweet plus ouzo and melon drink and also raki..
