Sea View Beach Bar Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

It takes a lot of "bad" to get a 1-star review from me. Forget the 15-20 EURO price for the beach chair and umbrella rental, it went up to 25 EUROS, and what a complete rip-off! The beach is nothing special for Crete beaches, attitude and service from some of the staff is terrible (other staff is ok). Take a look at the menu prices for generic food and beer items, complete rip-off! Beach sand and water quality, nothing special.

The thing with a lot of these Greek tourist operations is that they don't understand that more and more people are using Google reviews to determine if they will go to a venue or not and the owner(s) here simply do not care, and that will be to their disadvantage in the future because they think they can take advantage of tourists but technology is giving tourists more and more power of choice! :) I recommend you choose to completely avoid this place.

Let me give you an example: if you go to Cabana Mare in Agia Marina, the beach bar is high-end, the beach chairs are free with any drink order and prices are decent! No scamming of tourists at Cabana Mare and the experience is wildly better than anything at Stavros.

Three things led me to leave this very poor review:

1. Very overpriced - on the Greek Salad/Moussaka/Mythos beer price index they rank as one of the highest priced restaurants on Crete and serve food that is at best takeaway quality. Their location does not justify such prices or dismal quality of food.
2. Inedible food - one of our dishes, the calamari, was as tough and tasty as deep fried rubber bands. This meal was left uneaten and not once did a waiter wonder over to check in on the meals and the full plate of calamari left. The other meals were very basic with what looked like pre cut/frozen packaged veggies accompanying the souvlaki.
3. Sneaky surcharges - to top it all off as the final twist of the dagger, there was a per person surcharge for 'bread and plates' snuck onto the final bill. Over our 2 weeks travelling the Greek Isles and various dining options from road side tavernas to top tier sunset view restaurants, this was our first surcharge for such...

Very bad experience with the "Sea view Beach Bar Restaurant". Prices are extremely high (6€ for 1 draft beer, 2.5 € for 1l still water - even though these prices do not seem high, are still much above average in Greece/Chania). First restaurant in Greece where I payed the bread, the glasses and the setting of the table (a tax of a 8€ for 4 persons - 2€ each), although we did not even ordered bread. The tax is called "KOYBEP", it appears on the receipt, which is in Greek, we did not know what that meant, and when we asked we were explained that it's "the bread, the glasses and the table".

The sunbeds from the beach belong to this restaurant and their prices are insane - 25€ for 1 set of two in September.
