Really nice old style Greek Restaurant (Taverna). Not expensive as the others nearby, it is family driven. They have a big charcoal grill/barbeque, so You are granted that the food is prepared at the moment, and You can see what they prepare. I could only taste few things, as we arrived twice too late in the evening, but i can confirm that pork chops, souvlaki pork and kalamaki (souvlaki chicken on wooden skewer) are super tender and tasty. Also available tipical dishes that are not available in other places (You have to ask for them, not on the menu: for example choriatiki me Mizithra, the usual Greek Salad with Mizithra - smoother cheese less salted - not Feta). Excellent the saganaki cheese and the tzatziki. Check also the dolmades and zucchini flowers stuffed with rice: they are prepared slightly differently! I could see on other tables fried/grilled fish (too late!) and a really good looking moussaka (too late...
Read moreIt was great to be back in Stavros after a few years. We remembered Zorbas from our last visit, and once again, we had a memorable meal. We shared a plate of aubergine and cheese, plus calamari, to start. Both were delicious. For the main course, we ordered chicken and pork Souvlaki. Both were well-cooked on the barbecue. The pork was succulent and chicken tasty. We were too stuffed for dessert, but we were brought melon and raki at the end of the meal. The hostess was charming and welcoming. The service was slow to start with, but relax, have a beer, and just wait for that gorgeous food. By the way, Zorbas is cheaper than any of the other restaurants nearby. We spent £40 on two starters, three beers, and two...
Read moreWas recommended but really disappointing. Told no lamb so ordered pork steak which was very tough and came with cold rice salad and chips. Very Greek! To make matters worse a table of 6 arrived half an hour after us and were offered lamb chops. A small herd of lamb chops subsequently arrived. The house red was very poor and only became drinkable with the bread that we had to ask for This is neither traditional or good. The best thing about Zorbas taverna was the dog that joined us. A delightful corgi cross who throughly enjoyed the fatty pork steak. Great place if you want to watch Greek football though. Would...
