Mixed Experience: Charming Ambiance & Friendly Staff, But Food Fell Short

We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, especially with all the 5-star reviews. The ambiance was absolutely lovely – super cute, quaint, and felt very authentic. We also found the service to be very friendly.

However, the food unfortunately didn't quite match up to our hopes for the evening. The eggplant dip we ordered was quite different from what we anticipated; it was very creamy and not as 'eggplanty' as we'd hoped.

I ordered the grilled calamari, which unfortunately arrived about 10-15 minutes after my parents received their meals. They were very apologetic about the delay, which we appreciated. When the calamari did arrive, I found it wasn't great.

We were also a bit surprised by a 3 euro cover charge, which wasn't something we were expecting.

Overall, while the setting was delightful and the staff were very kind, our dining experience was just so-so due to the food. Perhaps it was an off night for the kitchen, but it left us feeling a bit underwhelmed by...

Excellent fish taverna run by professionals who /really/ know fish. The owner used to work for the best fishmonger on the Akrotiri, whom I have bought fresh fish from for over a decade. At the fishmonger, they would sell out all their fish every day, with the effect that it was always amazing and delicious.

Our experience at T-bay was beyond satisfying. Everything was perfect: the staff were attentive and gave us quick and excellent service. The bread as starter was delicious - actually too nice. The potatoes were cut more thickly than typical fries, but were soft and fluffy inside, and crisp on the outside. We had the red mullet, which were fresh and expertly cooked, and also a plate of fried calamari, again delicious and well prepared. Also a Greek salad and some kalitsounia pies.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. One evening, they even served us after their official closing time—something you rarely experience, and it meant a lot. Everyone was genuinely warm and hospitable, making us feel completely at ease.

The food was outstanding—fresh, high-quality ingredients, especially the seafood which was absolutely delicious. You can tell they really care about what they serve.

A special mention goes to Yanis, the best waiter we've ever had. He made sure we were taken care of throughout our visit and added a personal, thoughtful touch to the whole experience.
