We stayed as a couple at the TERSANAS VILLIAGE Apartments between 15-31 May 2018. We were recommended TERSANAS by a friend who had stayed there many times in the past and we have to say we were not disappointed. ||The apartments themselves are set within 20 minutes drive of Chania airport. TERSANAS is to the north of CHANIA and in an area I would call 'real Crete', away from the more built up resorts such as Georgiopolis, which, while nice enough, could be anywhere in Greece. The apartments are within walking distance to the local Tersanas Beach, and about 4 tavernas, other beaches and restaurants are within 15 minutes by car, Stavros was our preferred beach. A special mention to Ramblers restaurant where we had one of the best steaks and BBQ ribs ever. Tersanas is a very pleasant area, very Greek, but - unless you resolve to stay in the apartments and surrounding area every-day, I would recommend a car. Places such as Samaria Gorge are all in easy reach should you hire one, do not forget to visit the Commonwealth War Graves at Souda Bay, where over a thousand allied troops are buried, killed at The Battle of Souda Bay during WWII. - A worthwhile visit, a beautifully kept memorial area.||We had a one bedroom apartment at TERSANAS VILLAGE with the kitchen and lounge downstairs and the bedroom, bathroom and patio area upstairs with a lovely sea-view across the sea of Crete. It was very spacious, I assume all the others would be similar, and they are kept immaculately clean with regular linen and towel changes. Slightly longer shower curtains might be nice as showering can lead to water on the bathroom floor- but each apartment comes with a mop anyway! The beds are a little firm but we had no problems sleeping in our king size bed.|| The apartments are quiet, and the class of people the apartments attract are considerate irrespective of nationality. We had no disturbed nights. ||Kitchen is adequately equipped, large fridge small cooker etc and there are two supermarkets within a 5-10 minute walk.||The pool area is lovely, and when we were there in May there were never more than 6 people at the pool. The whole scene equates to being able to relax - in our case with a good book and the occasional swim - whilst there is a pool bar (which opens in late May) for drinks at reasonable prices. There is NO obtrusive loud music apart from a gentle background music coming from the pool bar.||Tersanas apartment has an excellent restaurant, the Sunset Taverna, Full Greek cuisine of the highest quality at a very reasonable price, the local wine which can be ordered by the carafe is excellent - especially the white.|| The restaurant attracts visitors from the local area, including polite and well behaved US Naval personnel and US civilians who are deployed to a US base not far away. ||Although TERSANAS has almost everything going for it, one of the main attribute is the staff. ||Special mention to them all from the maid who keeps the rooms so clean, to Manos who is anxious to help you with any issues such as minor gliches in the WIFI and he will then pop up and serve you in the pool bar, to Giorgos - the boss, who's helpful pleasant welcoming attitude and quiet disposition relaxes you the moment you arrive ...and special mention to his son Jacoub, who takes a personal interest in the quality of everything to do with the Sunset Taverna in regards to the food, wine, and whether there is absolutely anything he can do for you... (such as opening up briefly to ensure we had a carafe of wine to take to the room one night). He appears to have made the effort to learn Dutch and German but his English is excellent. He appreciated our comments regarding the quality of the wine, beer and food, and is always striving to improve on the high standards already in place. Such a genuine and friendly young man.||The staff are quite simply the nicest we have ever dealt with anywhere in all our travels, anywhere....||Therefore we thoroughly recommend TERSANAS Village apartments to anybody who wishes to get away from the big impersonal hotel style environment type of holiday and wish to relax in and quiet relaxed atmosphere away from the crowds in the 'real' Crete. Thanks to all of you who made our holiday such a memorable one - and WE ARE experienced travellers, with high standards, and we...

The surrounding area is so peaceful and unspoilt, the only noise a distant car, departing planes or the roar of the jets at 9 in the morning. Our apartment was wonderful. On two levels with basic kitchenette, separate loo, lounge and dining area and upstairs bathroom and bedroom. Our balcony faced the sea and we loved watching the boats arrive and depart from Chania. The real highlight for us was watching the sunsets unfold while we watched from our balcony with a glass of wine. Heaven on earth!! Apartments were cleaned daily and towels and bedding changed twice a week. The on-site restaurant offered good priced Cretan food and washed down with a half carafe of wine ( only 4 euros) and a complimentary dessert and glass of raki, a real must. We hired a car for the 2 weeks and covered about 1000 miles visiting such wonderful places as Elafonisi, Frangocastello and Falasarna. Chania nearer to hand is a must as is the boat trip to Gramvousa and Balos Bay from Kissamos. There are two beaches nearby and a good supermarket for that bread first thing in the morning. Great holiday, just want...
Read moreWe are just back from another fantastic 2 weeks staying at The Tersanas Village apartments. It always feels like coming home - we are always made to feel so welcome. The rooms/apartments are incredibly spacious, simply furnished but with everything you need. The beds are comfortable and sheets and towels are changed regularly. All have balconies to watch the amazing sunsets. It is better to have a car but there a couple of beaches within walking distance. The Sunset restaurant serves great greek food with a modern twist. The swimming pool is beautiful, never any sunbed battles and one of the best features is the pool bar. We have got to know brothers Michael and Manoli who run the bar, very well over the years and they do a fantastic job. We were slightly disappointed that the restaurant closed for our second week. Huge thanks to Maria who is the most friendly and helpful person ever, and a big shout out to her Dad, Giorgos and Maria, her grandmother. We will be back...
