Taverna Sossorides Marathi — Restaurant in Municipality of Chania

A little piece of paradise. We found this place by passing by while looking for food. The menu is not big they have Greek salad, fresh cut fries potatoes, tzatziki and meat fresh from the grill. We had Cretan beef burgers and chicken souvlaki. The food especially the salad was the best we ate on the whole island and we ate many of Greek salads. One of the highlights was the traditional ice cream made from a local with sheep milk it was rich and creamy and just delicious. The whole staff was so friendly and just real cretans and so nice to chat to. For the customers there are sunbeds under the trees for perfect shade. The water in front of the taverna is a dream to swim in. The prices are normal for chania. We felt so secure and at home there with all of the staff that we went every day for the whole day while our stay in chania. The place is absolutely amaizing for spending the day at the beach with sunbeds, umbrella and the shade of the trees surrounding the area. Also, there is no cost for the sunbeds, but you need to serve from their bar. The prices are very good, the coffee is also very good and they have variety of options even in terms of other drinks.

We also served our lunches there, 3 days in a row. All the food is great. We recommend the fish of the day, the greek salad or the pitta with tomatoes, cheese and capers. The tomatoes are vey good. We tried also the marinated anchovies and the octopus in wine, both very good.

We found this place perfect for spending an entire day at the beach, easy access to the amaizing water, great food, good music and very nice family...

A great place with a very friendly staff. I go there almost every day in the summer with my Greek husband. This taverna is a go-to for locals, which says a lot about the quality of the food. The tzatziki is an absolute must, just like the Greek salad and the pork and chicken skewers. The sea view is stunning, the atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, and the trees provide a lot of shade, which is perfect with hot Greek summers.
