Disappointing experience despite good food and location

We recently visited this restaurant during our holiday in Greece. The food was delicious, the location was lovely, and at first, the service was quite good — while the place was only about 20% full.

However, once the restaurant filled up, the service became completely chaotic. I tried to ask for the bill by politely signaling to a waiter. He nodded, but never came. I waited another 10 minutes and signaled again — same response: a nod, but no follow-up. After another 10 minutes, I signaled a third time, clearly indicating we wanted the check.

Instead of bringing the bill, the waiter came to our table visibly angry and started shouting at me in Greek. Then he switched to English and accused us of being disrespectful because — as he explained — "102 people arrived at the same time" and we didn't wait patiently enough.

We understand that things can get hectic in a busy restaurant, but this kind of response from the staff was completely unacceptable. As paying guests, we shouldn't be yelled at or made to feel guilty for simply requesting the check — especially when we waited over 30 minutes.

I’m writing this review not because of the food or the location (which were both great), but because of the way we were treated. I hope the management takes this seriously. No one deserves to end an otherwise enjoyable evening being scolded by a frustrated waiter. Respect...

We went there when the place was not even half full.

We ordered 2 portions (3 pieces) of kalamaki and waited. Time passed - no one brought what we wanted. At a certain point the waiter walked out with a platter full of food but none of it was for us.

We asked the girl who took our order about the reason it was taking so long and she said something about having "priorities" in the way the orders were taken.

I look around and noticed the tables that were once free are taken, more people came as we waited for our order yet some of them were already finishing their meals or even having the waiter bring them as we got that answer to our question.

Never in my life have I thought of getting up and leaving a place for this reason but 1) We were getting hungrier by the minute 2) We were not the last ones or even close to being the last ones to order 3) Our order wasn't all that complicated to make 4) The way our inquiry was met with such a feedback as "we have priorities" instead of something in the lines of "let me check with the X or Y and I'll get back to you" was insane 5)..

Imagine turning around and seeing more than half - or even all of the "newcomers" getting their orders while you've been waiting for yours and then getting such an answer to your...

The best Greek restaurant in the village I loved the way they decorated the restaurant it’s looking like an old authentic Greek house 🏡! With fabulous traditional music 🎵 🇬🇷😍.
