I want to first add that today is a national Greek holiday, so everything was far slower than normal. After waiting over an hour, we were finally given some bread, but there was nothing else to accompany it. I will note that 3 tables sat down after us, and they were served before our table but we finally managed to place an order for appetizers; one order of haloumi cheese and one order of stuffed wine leaves which were served hot and rather delicious. We were brought 3 appetizers that we did not order. Some time later, upon finally ordering entrees, we were told they didn't have the red mullet but were reccomend to order the red porgy instead, which took nearly two hours to be served. It whole and not deboned tableside as expected, so therefore full of bones and it was very difficult to eat the fish. The mushroom risotto was delicious and piping hot. I would not wait ~2 hours again for fish that was painful and not an enjoyable experience; furthermore, the taste was not nearly good enough for the nearly 2 hour delay. Also, we had a large boat approach the port, which caused a large wave splashing the 4 people sitting at our table - we were not offered towels or anything. I would recommend this restaurant, operating under the assumption it is usually of an entirely different caliber of service - given today was Orthodox Whit Sunday. I would assume overlooking customer needs, and the long delay was outside...
Read moreBeen in Greece for 4 weeks and hands down worst meal I’ve had the entire time. I felt like telling them off before leaving , but paid and left out of respect.
Firstly, took forever to even place an order. Another 30 min till the appetizer arrived. Greek salad “horiataki”, this is a pretty bulletproof/failsafe order in Greece. Every vegetable was ice cold like it just came out of a fridge/freezer and low quality. Barely edible even when it finally came down to ambient temperature.
At this point , another almost 45 min till the two mains came out. Our plates from the salad are still sitting there. Waiter asks us to move our plates so he can put down the mains and then pass him the dirty plates. Sure, no problem.
Mains, terrible. Like you couldn’t make worse meat dishes and with fries if you tried.
At this point I just went to get out of here. Another 30 min ordeal to finally pay.
Take your money elsewhere. Not to an owner who’s trying to run a restaurant and the next door bar with 3-4 staff and could care less about the quality of food he puts out. It was beyond embarrassing for them from start to finish.
I’m not even one to shame restaurants or write about bad food or service. In this case I’m trying to help fellow man kind from wasting their hard earned money at this abortion of a restaurant.
We’ve had many great meals in Porto Heli, do your research. We just walked in without doing our...
Read moreDuring my recent vacation, I had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional restaurant, and I must say it exceeded all expectations. As someone who is extremely critical when it comes to food, I can confidently declare that this was, without a doubt, the best main course I had during my entire trip.
For the main course, I opted for the octopus in red wine sauce, and it was nothing short of perfection. The flavors were rich, the texture tender, and the dish was executed with such finesse that it left a lasting impression. To start, we shared various appetizers at the table, and each one was a masterpiece in its own right—every bite was a delightful surprise, offering a glimpse into the chef's expertise and creativity.
I was initially puzzled by the mixed reviews I had come across beforehand, but this experience reaffirmed an important lesson: you can’t always rely on others' opinions. There were seven of us at the table, and we unanimously agreed that this restaurant deserves a full five stars. From the impeccable service to the unforgettable flavors, this place truly sets the bar high for...
