Absolutely fantastic service all around. Locals often have higher standards for fresh, traditional food than tourists, and the place exceeded those expectations easily. A reservation would be recommended, especially during high season. Location? Beautiful. Right on the coast, with a view of the Matala caves that light up during the night. Portions? Generous. Dishes well presented and, more importantly, well prepared. Service? Swift, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. We had gluten-free dietary requirements, and they were very accommodating throughout. The host is multilingual, and I heard him speak English, German, French, and, of course, Greek. Many sea-front tourist oriented restaurants at this price range fail to deliver, but this one is...

Amazing food and place! Serivice was lovely, the waitress reccomended the wine and food. The entrees were delicious, we ordered the tuna carpaccio which was incredibly tasty, the ceviche which one's also very good although in a tartar shape not the classic ceviche and the mussles which were delicious. As mains we had the fish souvlaki which was alright but all the fish is fully cooked therefore fish like tuna tend to lose their essence when cooked completly and the octopus souvlaki which was top knotch, super tender! Even the fries were delicious and homemade. Location is unbeatiable, they have coverage for both sun and wind. A must try! specially in such a tourist location that is...

Seaside strip's of restaurants usually get me offside, like my grandmother when she saw me with my elbows on the table. It wasn't my idea to eat here, but it went pretty well. The beetroot salad doesn't really need the apple. It's amazing without. So simple. Great raw produce well handled, with all the zing of a vinegar factory. The rest was good enough. Again, we are suffering from a surfeit of decent tomatoes. Crete never used to serve these red water chunks. But times change. The fish is great value at €19.50. A little less cooked and it's a symphony...but just a minuet here..though the veggies were tops. Incredible waitress makes it all work together. Definitely the...

After many many years I came back to matala and searched a nice restaurant to cover my family's and my appetite. Well it all worked. Nice location with a great panoramic view, very friendly service and great food! We had the avocado salad that was only tasty but also pretty big and full of vegetables. Fried small fish which was very fresh. And shrimp risotto accompanied with the octopus, both covered all our culinaric needs If I had a negative comment would have been the price of the octopus of 19,5 €, which is pricey for cretan level.
