SICILIANA — Restaurant in Municipality of Ierapetra

The worst pizzeria place I have experienced till now. We went the first night, the service was OK. So we decided to go back for our last night in Ierapetra. The waitress with curly hair was very professional and kind. However we noticed the other youngest waitresses were arguing with her near our table which we found it quite unpleasant and unprofessional. Then, we had another waitress came for our drinks to whom we had to request several times for napkins, more glass of beer, forks and knives as we were 5 persons. We waited for 30- 40 mn and no food came on our table as one of the waitresses of the previous night was making or I might say learning to make pizza while our 8 years child and 90 years old father in law were starving and could not wait anymore. As it was nearly 10 pm we decided to pay for our drinks and go elsewhere. The long wait was unacceptable for a pizza, but the worst thing was that nobody came to our table to apologise, or explain this delay. I actually found their reaction very arrogant and indifferent towards customers, they only cared about us to pay. This place was well managed last summer when the service used to be excellent. Visited Sunday 30 June 2024 for lunch, there was only a table of two people when we arrived. We sat down, the waitress came over, made sure the table was clean and put a clean table cover on and went away. In the meantime two further tables became occupied. The waitress went and took the orders for both of the tables whilst we were still waiting to have our order taken. We asked the waitress to take our order to which she replied 'in a minute '. Another four people came in and she immediately went over to take their orders. We attempted to get her attention but it was blatantly clear she was choosing to ignore us. At this point we got up and walked out. The moral of this story is, if you are any other nationality than greek, DON'T GO because she clearly had no intention of ever coming and taking our order and was only interested in serving local people. She certainly needs some training on dealing with the public and customer facing skills. Clearly the restaurant can afford to lose custom and money. My son has a peanut and tree nut allergy. We informed the waitress about the allergies and we were assured there was no nuts or cross contamination for my son’s Margherita Pizza. We come to Greece every year and speak the language so there are no excuses of miscommunication. My son had an allergic reaction to something he ate there 100%.
