Hidden Gem in Ierapetra!
We stumbled upon Siti Gonia by chance, and at first, we weren’t quite sure—it looked more like a cozy house terrace, but we noticed people enjoying their meals. It turns out, it’s a restaurant with a wonderfully homey vibe that the owner clearly wants to preserve. We were treated to some of the most authentic homemade food we’ve ever had.
The chicken in olive oil was exquisite, and the lamb was incredibly tender—flavors you simply can’t find at your typical restaurant. The tzatziki was hands-down the best we’ve tried, and the dessert was the perfect finish to an already delightful meal.
The atmosphere is as charming as the food, with the owner being so cheerful and welcoming, it felt like we were having dinner at a neighbor’s house. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for authenticity and a truly memorable meal. Thank you so...

Maria is unbelievable! she managed this whole place by herself from building the eatery to all the prep in the kitchen.
Dishes were so delicious and big assortment we went there for both lunch and dinner on a Saturday because we liked it too much. We didn’t only eat there, we enjoyed the stories she told.
She doesn’t have a menu card but my tip, let her surprise you! I do not like okra due to its sliminess. Maria’s okra dish exceed my expectations and made me loved okra.
My last tip, if you come during the afternoon and it seemed closed yet the doors open and the tables are set, do go inside and shout KALIMERA! MARIA! she’s usually in the kitchen ;)
Overall, the dishes, the atmosphere and Maria herself is an unforgettable part of our vacation in Crete. Also the clear water of that...
Read moreThis restaurant is a real gem. Maria is an incredibly generous person and an amazing cook. There is no menu because she cooks according to the season, which means that the dishes can often vary. She also uses very good products and you can taste it. Her dolmades are to die for, with a lot of flavors and textures. I also tried the shrimp pasta and the rabbit with fried potatoes and both were excellent. For dessert, a very tasty Greek yogurt with delicious glikokoutalis.
The portions are very generous and the prices are very reasonable. I urge you to give it a try, you will not be...
