Parthenonas is undoubtedly one of the most well-known restaurants in Arkasa and truly embodies the essence of a traditional Greek taverna. We visited fairly early in the evening, and it was already full of people – always a good sign!

What makes Parthenonas stand out is its use of traditional spits (souvles), where various meats are slowly roasted to perfection. We were lucky enough to try the gourounopoula (roast pork), kontosouvli (marinated pork chunks), and grilled lamb chops – every dish was absolutely delicious and full of flavor.

The salads were also fresh and tasty. We especially enjoyed the classic horiatiki (Greek salad) and a garlicky tzatziki that packed a real punch.

This might just be the best taverna on the island. One thing to keep in mind: the spit-roasted meats tend to sell out early – usually before 9:30 PM – so it’s definitely worth arriving sooner rather than later.

I've been coming to Karpathos every summer for 25 years and I am upset with myself that this was the first summer I discovered this restaurant. WOW, is all I have to say. It starts with the people. Manolis and the rest of the staff are amazing humans who, you can tell, dedicate their lives to providing unforgettable dining experiences for their guests. The quality of the meats you cannot find at another restaurant in Karpathos. I was laughing to myself at the table at how flavorful and rich everything was. True elation. Be sure to reserve and make sure you arrive after 7PM, when the meats are typically being served. I highly highly recommend eating at this restaurant no matter what part of the island...

If you're ever in Arkasa, this hidden gem is a must-visit. The food is nothing short of amazing. The chicken and kontosouvli pork cooked on the spit are perfectly seasoned and incredibly tender, bursting with flavor. The homemade makarounes are just like yiayia used to make — simple, fresh, and comforting. The moussaka is rich and delicious, layered to perfection. Everything tastes authentically Greek, made with love and local family ingredients.
