Sofia's Place — Restaurant in Municipality of Karpathos

I had the pleasure of dining at Sofia's Place on October 9, 2023, with my sister, and I was absolutely blown away by the food, service, and overall experience.

My sister and I ordered the Greek dish and a musaka in a pot, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The Greek dish was a perfect sampler of traditional Greek cuisine, with everything from moussaka to souvlaki to spanakopita. The musaka in a pot was hearty and flavorful, and the perfect dish for a cold winter night.

The service at Sofia's Place was also top-notch. Our server was friendly and attentive, and made sure that we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

One of the things that really stood out to me about Sofia's Place was the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is small and intimate, and the staff makes you feel like you're part of the family. When we asked for the bill, we were given a complimentary dessert and fruit. It was such a nice touch, and it really made our meal feel special.

We had a very interesting evening, partially amusing but also strange. The place has a special atmosphere, very busy, staff is running all the time but it seems that quantity is more important here than quality. Signora Sofia is catching people from outside, wants to fill empty tables immediately, shouting at staff - until some point it is amusing, then more weird. Our cold starter plate was more a tourist trap and we could not even finish but the main dish was served, Main dish’s size is too big, quality is ok but it was not a real wow experience. We got watermelon and loukomades as a finish and then the bill came unexpectedly, without our request however we did not want to leave yet. We were “forced” to pay as our table was already promised to others. We had such a lovely time having dinner here. The food was amazing and it made you feel like you were eating dinner at your grandma's house! It is family owned and everyone working here makes you feel part of their family. I would recommend everyone visiting Karpathos to at least try the food once!

We ordered the dolmades, greek salade, the fried zuchinni balls, grilled chicken and the shrimp with garlic. It was the best dinner I had in a long time!
