TL;DR You're much better off eating across the road.
We stayed around the corner for a week and ate here for the first night. The food is good but what let them down is the much poorer customer service.
As you will find in Crete, restaurants will add bread to your meal even if you do not order it. You might think it is free but they will charge you up to €3 for this and unless you can read Greek you will not know what this is for.
Even when you send the bread back many will still add the charge on the bill. We are used to this and when we point it out they always take the charge off.
Taverna Kochilas is unique in that they are the only one of the many Greek restaurants that we have eaten at to still insist on charging us for bread that we sent back and did not eat. Even after spending a few minutes pointing out the incongruity they wouldn't remove the charge.

The grilled vegetables, for instance, are let down by undercooking and a lack of seasoning, leaving them more of an afterthought than a highlight.
Prices hover at a level that feels just a touch ambitious given the inconsistency. Still, for a friendly, family-run spot where the fish really is the star of the show, Taverna Kochilas is a pleasant choice – provided you...

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Taverna Kochilas, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning view of the sunset, which set a perfect backdrop for the evening.
The culinary delights were just as impressive. We started with the fish, which was exceptionally fresh and perfectly cooked, offering a delicate balance of flavors that left us wanting more. The chicken souvlaki was another highlight, tender and juicy with a delightful blend of spices that transported us straight to Greece. The lamb chops were equally exquisite, cooked to perfection with a rich, savory taste that was simply divine.
Overall, Taverna Kochilas provided an exceptional dining experience, combining breathtaking views with top-notch cuisine. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal in a...
