Sadly the visit to this restaurant was rather disappointing having had high hopes from the reviews. Upon arrival the welcome was a bit cold as was the service from the lady and gent in glasses who didn’t have much to say and weren’t particularly friendly during the visit. It sort of felt a bit awkward, although the older gent in the hat was more friendly.
I ordered the chicken souvlaki and my partner the lamb chops. 15 minutes passed and the lady told me souvlaki had ran out and asked if gyros was ok. I didn’t really fancy gyros but I trying to change my order to a moussaka instead it became a bit awkward changing meals so I was somewhat coaxed into having the gyros.
There was no info as to what our food came with and when both dishes arrived they only came with chips and a couple of slices of tomato. Having read reviews and seen previous photos dishes seemed to come with plenty of veg/salad and some tzatziki. In reality we were just served meat and chips. We add to order tzatziki to go with our food after it had arrived at an extra €4. I’ve not know any meals in Greece to come with virtually nothing, so this was very disappointing.
The chips were decent but the gyros were average and the lamb chops very dry, fatty and a bit overcooked. It felt like both were cooked from frozen. It was the latter part of the day (after 2100) but other people had arrived around the same time as us, so there was no reason or excuse to drop standards. A free ouzo with every meal was advertised on the sign outside, but we didn’t get any.
The bill was more expensive than other places in Marmari where we got all sorts included with our meal such as bread, salad and veg plus free desserts and shots at the end. Ambvrosia next door was nearly €10 cheaper for a better meal and nicer wine for example. Therefore the value for money here was pretty poor, especially given various shortcomings as described.
Sadly this was the nearest restaurant to where we were staying and the cold service and average food meant it was disappointing that we clearly would not return. Perhaps it was an off night for them. Regardless that’s all that needs to happen for customers to not come back and standards should be high all day everyday. It was a very ungreek experience unfortunately where hospitality and good is nearly always...
Read moreI had an incredible dining experience at Didimoi Twins Tavern last night. From the moment we walked in, the owners made us feel genuinely welcome and attended to our every need with warmth and professionalism. The atmosphere was so inviting, giving off a wonderful home-cooked feeling. What truly impressed me was the freshness of the ingredients, especially the vegetables, which came straight from the owners' garden. You could taste the quality and care in every dish. Each bite was a delightful reminder of how much effort goes into their food. I strongly recommend this place for anyone looking for a memorable meal and outstanding...
Read moreExtraordinary homemade food, succulent souvlaki, delicious pork or chicken gyros, fresh veggies for greek salad, smooth and flavorful tzatziki, pita with just the right amount of salt and herbs.
For a smaller hunger there is also pita with gyros (which is still very filling).
We ask if they had ravani and although they didnt at the time they offered to make some for next day - and let me tell you it was amazing, juicy and great texture.
All this with fantastic service, always smiling and very kind, no wonder we cane back 2 more times since the first visit.
And to top it off, it is very...
