Unfortunately we won’t be recommending this restaurant. We came for dinner after the sunset. My partner has food allergies and explained these to the server. It seemed everything had been understood, the server actually made suggestions to avoid dishes that may have caused an issue. We ended up with a selection of cheese dishes (feta and honey, spicy cheese dip) as well as stuffed vine leaves and courgette flowers. My partner started feeling a bit dodgy after we’d finished eating, so we put it down to an ingredient she is allergic to being included in one of the dishes.
But the fun did not stop there. We got home and went to bed, and I woke up in a cold sweat at 3am (I don’t have any food allergies). The sweating subsided by my stomach started to feel off and I was also feeling sick. My partner had also now woken up and had to take herself off to the toilet to be sick a few times. The diarrhoea and more sick followed. We were unable to get back to sleep and the feelings developed into muscle/headaches.
The restaurant was the only place we ate that day, after breakfast at our hotel some 12 hours prior. So unfortunately it seems like we picked up listeria from the cheese products here....

Probably one of the best Greek restaurants I had the pleasure of dining in. Truly family-run place, the service is very friendly and ready to help, wait time is not really super long, but any wait is worth it - the dishes are top-notch quality, very well prepared and seasoned, with seemingly local (and definitely fresh) ingredients. The cook is a very talented lady that prepares the food like she was to serve it to friends and family - I had the pleasure to meet her and pay my compliments, which she graciously accepted. I really wish I could revisit it soon, and will come back next time I visit Kos island.
Not so important to me, but probably useful to know for others, given the location and tourist traffic in the village, the prices are surprisingly reasonable, and there's fast...
Read moreI usually don't like to rate a business unless I can give them 5 stars. This restaurant in Kos totally deserves 5 or more stars. I ate in many restaurants in Kos that were reviewed by others on Trip Advisor and Google, and in Greek we have a saying "Where you hear that there is a lot of cherries, carry a small basket", meaning many don't stand up to their reputation. Well comparing this restaurant to at least another 15 of the recommended ones, they had the Best Food. Everything tasted really good, was fresh and homemade. I liked the food so much that I went for a repeat, something that I would do only with 2 more taverns out of the 15 that I have visited! If you visit Zia in Kos, you must eat at...
