Katerina Traditional Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Kos

My wife and I ate here twice during our recent stay in kos. The kalamari was fresh, delicious, crispy, not too oily with a bite but not chewy. The chips were potatoe slices not French fries which we prefer in authentic Greek restaurants. I also had the Prawns which were large and very fresh. They didn't remove the digestive tract so be aware when peeling to remove yourself, they don't seem to in any of the restaurants so not marking down for that! My wife had chicken souvlaki which was just perfectly cooked and very juicy. Be sure to leave some room for ravani cake, the best we've tried served here, a lovely semolina cake with orange syrup served with ice cream, I think it had ground almonds in it too, very tasty! We were very positively surprised. This is definitely one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. The dishes are prepared on the spot, you can taste that they use fresh ingredients. They even make their own fries. The flavors are incredible. We discovered the restaurant yesterday. The fact that we had such a good time that we came back today and will do it again tomorrow says more than enough. Yesterday we ordered moussaka, pork souvlaki and pastitsio. We visited as a group of nine and were seated inside since the garden was full. It was a very hot day and we were extremely thirsty, but only one bottle of water was served for all of us. When we asked for more, we were told they would only bring it later with the food order due to limited staff. Instead of solving the problem by simply bringing water, the manager walked around and loudly told us several times that if we didn’t like it, we could leave.
