Taverna HARILAOS — Restaurant in Municipality of Malevizi

This restaurant is a gem. Six of us (2 from the USA, 2 from Sweden, and 2 from Indonesia, all experienced international travelers) dined at Taverna HARILAOS (ΧΑΡΙΛΑΟΣ) on two nights, and we all agreed: The experience was special. While the food was wonderful, more importantly the ambiance was genuinely Greek, which was largely due to the warm and sincere hospitality of the owner and his wife. Their welcoming and accommodating personalities overcame our inability to speak Greek and dissolved any language barrier. I don't know how many stars to give. We didn't eat at this restaurant because when we asked at the entrance if they serve Antikristo, the waiter didn't understand what we were talking about. He simply said he didn't know what Antikristo was. In Crete. He didn't know. It's likely that he had a poor command of English and needed the help of a colleague to understand what we wanted. Non posso consigliare questo posto , sarebbe troppo poco, per me dovrebbe essere un dovere fermarsi a mangiare in un posto così, sia per il cibo, sia per un servizio attento e curato in tutto ! Abbiamo mangiato a pranzo in un giorno particolare, il giorno della Pasqua ortodossa ed abbiamo speso una cifra davvero ragionevole, anzi, direi davvero modesta. Per finire ci hanno offerto due ottimi dolci, un vassoio di frutta con fragole, arance e ananas tutto pulito e pretagliato e una ottima grappa che è stata davvero un piacevole fine pranzo.
