Fantastic experience. We came to Rodia for food on recommendation from a Greek co-worker, but the restaurant was picked based on online reviews. We came on a Friday night during the down season ( mid-February). We felt we were early, arriving around 18:15, but were welcome with open arms. We tried as many new Greek dishes as we could from the menu, and all of it was fantastic. The owners were very friendly, taking the time to explain where the individual dishes came from, and who has provided the ingredients. We got to visit the kitchen where we saw where the magic happens. We were treated to a traditional homemade raki to top off the meal and the kids loved their chocolate cake and ice cream. I try not to look at the price of items when we go out so that we pick what we want to eat, but I don’t understand how we managed to fill our 5 bellies for so cheap.
The end of our 10-day trip is coming to and end, and our meal at To Rodi definitely ranks way up there with our most authentic Greek and Cretan experiences, and stands out as the best meal we had in our trip. If I could give 6 stars, I would. Visit them blindly!

Read more"Smoke lamb specialist" was the reason we came up here with high expectations and hungry bellies. And that was first dissapointment-the Lamb Antikristo was not available.. At the tavern which advertises itself for this dish. But this was only a start. 2) the interval between serving main meals for the table was 30 min; 3) the waiter has been rude. Being asked for the reason it is taking so long - Shrugged the shoulders abruptly. No word of sorry even. Worse service ever, especially for Crete where everyone else is so nice. 4) No complementary dishes. Forget extra desserts, forgert Raki, forget even olives or bread for the waiting😏 they give you none of that. 5) asked for french fries to my fish, got only the fish not even a salad. This place has a great view from the window and tasty food (eventually when it arrives) but very very bad service. By the way, we were the only costumers .. kitchen and the waiter could not handle to make 2 persons happy? how can they handle the full house? a...
Read moreTo say that this restaurant is one of Crete's wonders it is surely an understatement. I won't say much regarding the food. It is simply amazing and a must try. Do not leave the island and especially Heraclion without visiting this place. We were looking for "antikristo" the tradional way of cooking lamb in Crete, and due to Covid most restaurants didn't have with minor exceptions on Sundays but required pre booking so for a tourist was not an option. This place is making it every day and even if you are not sure what to have there, the owner Costas and his team are quite keen and eager to point you towards a nice selection with the abundance of options available.
Not to mention the stunning view of Heraclion once you make the short drive up the hill from the city center.
This place was recommended by a lot of my colleagues and i realized why when i visited.
Dont miss this opportunity if you find yourself in Crete. Very friendly and attentive staff and extremely...
