Read till the end! I'll start off by saying the food was generally tasty and I've had good experiences with other La Pasteria establishments in the past. The view is beautiful in the evening when seated near the large glass wall and overall the atmosphere is nice. However, the service was really bad. Even though we were greeted politely at our table and we received our order in satisfactory time, everything after that was only bad. While we were finishing eating, a waiter approached us asking if he could take our plates, we said no because we could finish in time. A few minutes later we were asked again if we finished, we handed our plates because we felt pressure but we could've stayed more. Immediately afterwards, another waiter approached us with the POS asking us if we would pay with cash or card, we had no intention of leaving yet and the store was still half empty so we thought we could stay and watch the sunset. Nevertheless we paid and stayed some more. A young couple had sat down nearby 10 minutes earlier and right after ordering they got the same treatment and were asked to pay without even having received their food! None of the other tables were treated that way and it left us with a really bad aftertaste.
And now the food: one of us ordered the Italian burger which was relatively disappointing, the other person got their La Pasteria salad which was underwhelming to say the least. We also ordered the bruschetta which is always above average or good and also the Focaccini con buratta e Prosciutto Crudo which although tasty and filling, the Focaccini was more like simple bread than real Italian Focaccini. The food is not cheap and although most plates are worth it some leave you wanting more in quality and quantity And MOST IMPORTANTLY(!) : The person that ate the salad got short term food poisoning and had stomach issues the rest of the night!!! If one plate is worth the trouble I would say it's the Pancetta Reggio Italia from the Giro...
Read moreWe were 2 persons ordering 2 dishes. It was obvious that is was one dish per person. After acceptable time the first dish arrived. (A salad with mostly green salad and some few vedgetables) Then we waited for 15 minutes without getting the other dish. We asked if the dish would be served soon. The answer we got from the man who seemed to be the main waiter, was that rise for risotto takes much longer time to cook. Then he made a telephone call to the kitchen asking for the risotto. He then came to our table saying that it will be served within 2 minutes. We waited for 7 more minutes before the risotto came. It was supposed to be a risotto milanese with safran but there were absolutely no trace of safran in this dish. While we finally we’re eating the waiter came to our table and started lecturing us about how to serve dishes and that it’s normal to serve the person who order a salad long time before a person who order a risotto. Both dishes were on the same page in the menue. The lecturing was very rude and he treated us like we had no knowledge about foodculture. I will never visit this...
Read moreWe were two people eating. We started by standing 10 minutes to wait for a table, then we ordered our food, one person got her food pretty quickly, i waited for 16 minutes. Then we asked the waitress where my dish was, he said “it takes longer time to make, it will be 2 more minutes”. We waited more 7 minutes before my dish finally arrived. Then the waitress comes over to the table while we are eating saying “rice takes longer to cook than a salad” we said nothing because we were a little surprised by this treatment. He then continues to lecture us and says “in greece normally when you order a salad it is to share as a starter” we then answered “but since we are two people ordering two dishes at the same time, we thought it was obvious that it is two main dishes for both of us”. He then continued to lecture us on greek food culture, WHILE WE WERE TRYING TO FINALLY EAT OUR FOOD TOGETHER. We found this behavior totally unacceptable and will not be visiting this place ever again. It is absolutely disgusting to sit in a restaurant where the waitress is lecturing us about food culture...
